Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and President and CEO Deborah Borda today announced the 2014/15 season of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This new season, the orchestra's 96th, is devoted to moving music forward by presenting an ever-evolving vision through a series of programs that demonstrate the artistry of the Los Angeles Philharmonic as a leading orchestra of the 21st century, under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel.

New World School of the Arts celebrates Valentine's Day with a special presentation by piano virtuoso, Viviana Lasaracina, who joins the NWSA music division in the conservatory's annual concert at Knight Concert Hall. Coinciding this year with the Sochi Winter Olympic Games and Valentine's Day, From Russia with Love highlights masterpieces from three Russian musical giants: Stravinsky, Rachmaninov, and Shostakovich. The concert will take place tonight, February 12 at 7:30 pm.

Celebrity Series of Boston will present jazz ensemble The Spring Quartet on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 8:00pm at Sanders Theatre, Memorial Hall, Harvard University, 45 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA. This performance is sponsored by Amy and Joshua Boger and Tufts Health Plan.

Magic and wonder await as Deputy Headmaster Vladimir Kulenovic conducts the Utah Symphony through the music and fantasy of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on February 18 and 19 at Abravanel Hall. Songs from the 'Harry Potter' movie soundtracks composed by John Williams are scattered throughout the concert including the musical flights of 'Nimbus 2000' and 'Hedwig's Theme' and the mystical spells of 'The Sorcerer's Stone' and 'Witches, Wands and Wizards'.

Mitchell-Innes & Nash presents an exhibition of paintings and works on paper by former Croation artist Julije Knifer (1924 - 2004). The exhibition will be the first ever solo show of Knifer's work in the United States, and will include work from the early 1960's through the 2000's.

Utah Symphony Music Director Thierry Fischer and President & CEO Melia Tourangeau today announced the Utah Symphony's complete 2014-15 season. Maestro Fischer will lead the Symphony through 11 of the 18 Masterworks Series performances, which include more than 60 pieces with repertoire spanning 250 years, all performed in the Utah Symphony's Abravanel Hall. Celebrity Series of Boston is holding its first calls this weekend for Le Grand Continental, the most infectious, contemporary, community line dance ever imagined. Following on the success of Street Pianos Boston, Celebrity Series is looking for 150+ people of all ages to help them cap their 75th anniversary celebration with Le Grand Continental-a weekend of community dance performance that will be held May 16-18 in Copley Square Park.

15-year-old organist Michael Jon Bennett from New York City will appear on an upcoming episode of From the Top, the hit NPR radio program featuring America's best young classical musicians and hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley. Broadcast from Costa Mesa, California, the show will air nationally and online the week of February 3 and on WQXR on February 8 at 6:00 AM The episode was taped before a live audience at the Segerstrom Concert Hall at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Utah Opera Artistic Director Christopher McBeth today announced Utah Opera's 2014-15 season. The company's 37th season will feature four productions between October 2014 and May 2015, including the company premieres of Georges Bizet's The Pearl Fishers and Igor Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress. The season will also feature the debut of Utah Symphony's Music Director Thierry Fischer in his first Utah Opera conducting role, leading The Rake's Progress.

Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles will make his first appearance this season leading the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) March 13, 2014, at 8:00 p.m., March 15, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., and March 16, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Singer Karyn Levitt, with pianist Eric Ostling, will perform Eric Bentley's Brecht-Eisler Song Book, a unique evening that features the songs of Austrian composer Hanns Eisler (1898-1962), set to poetry by Bertolt Brecht and other noted writers, in English versions by Eric Bentley, Monday February 3 at 7:30 PM at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia/Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (entrance on 95th Street). Eric Bentley, now 97 years old, is the first translator into English of Brecht's plays and poems, introducing Brecht's work to American stages in the 1940's and 50's. Bentley has now unlocked Hanns Eisler's starkly beautiful songs, many set to poems by Brecht, to be performed by soprano Karyn Levitt, with whom he has worked closely since 2011.

The Tokyo Philharmonic has the longest history and tradition of any orchestra in Japan, having been originally established in Nagoya in 1911. As plans were being made for its centenary celebrations in 2011, a devastating earthquake and tsunami struck east Japan, challenging the nation with an unprecedented crisis. The orchestra's centenary plans were scuttled, as an entire culture adjusted to a solemn new reality.

Traditionally regarded as an abstract minimalist, 71 year old choreographer Douglas Dunn treads into unexpected territory with the world premiere of “Aubade,” at the Alexander Kasser Theater, today, January 24-February 1. The dance was commissioned by Peak Performances.
