For DIRECTOR'S CHOICE, the fourth program of Pacific Northwest Ballet's 2013-2014 season, Artistic Director Peter Boal selects from his roster of acquisitions and increases them by one: The captivating mixed-bill program will feature a much-anticipated world premiere by Alejandro Cerrudo, resident choreographer of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. The program also reprises audience favorites TAKE FIVE...More or Less, Broadway-darling Susan Stroman's sunny slice of jazz-infused Dave Brubeck fun; and Susan Marshall's distinctive aerial duet, Kiss. Rounding out the lineup is Molissa Fenley's State of Darkness, a tour-de-force solo performance set to Stravinsky's riot-inducing The Rite of Spring. The Tokyo Philharmonic has the longest history and tradition of any orchestra in Japan. As plans were being made for its 100th anniversary celebrations in 2011, a devastating earthquake and tsunami struck Japan. The orchestra's centenary plans were scuttled, as an entire culture adjusted to a solemn new reality.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Announces 45th Anniversary Season

Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han have announced plans for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's 45th anniversary season. The 2014-2015 Season offers an extraordinarily vibrant palette of diverse and innovative programming performed by a vast and impressive roster comprised of 109 of the world's finest chamber music artists. Highlights include a program devoted to the work of acclaimed choreographer William Forsythe; the return of popular works by George Balanchine, Alexei Ratmansky, David Dawson, and Nacho Duato; a world premiere by New York City Ballet's Justin Peck, a PNB premiere by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa; and a fond farewell to the Northwest's favorite holiday tradition, Kent Stowell and Maurice Sendak's Nutcracker. (PNB will unveil a new production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker with sets and costumes by Ian Falconer in 2015.)

Kingsbury Hall Presents Dance Theatre of Harlem, founded in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell, the first African American to become a principal dancer for New York City Ballet.
