Andrey Boreyko will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct two weeks of performances highlighting Russian music as well as seldom-performed works. In the first program, Mr. Boreyko will conduct Stravinsky's The Song of the Nightingale; Mozart's Bassoon Concerto, with Principal Bassoon Judith LeClair; and Zemlinsky's The Mermaid, Fantasy for Orchestra, on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 17 at 11:00 a.m.; and Saturday, January 18 at 8:00 p.m.

Today in 1996, the first Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress opened at the Broadhurst Theatre, where it ran for188 performances. Once Upon a Mattress is a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. The play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Once Upon A Mattress marked the Broadway debut of later stage and TV legend Carol Burnett, who originated the role of Princess Winnifred.

Billboard reports that Disney's FROZEN soundtrack has risen from No. 11 to No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album is the 10th soundtrack from an animated feature to break into the top 10, and the first since CARS in 2006.

The DanceVision Performance Company is excited to announce the return of its holiday ballet, The Snow Queen, which will be performed at The College of New Jersey's Kendall Hall Theater tonight, December 14 at 7pm, and Sunday, December 15 at 2pm. The lead role of the Snow Queen will be performed by Jillian Davis, a former member of the DanceVision Performance Company and alumna of Princeton Dance and Theater Studio's Conservatory Program.

Opposites attract in this charming tale of unrequited love. Stan the Lovesick Snowman plays at the Center for Puppetry Arts Jan. 2 - Feb. 2, 2014. Stan's adorable story begins after a chance encounter with a dog that has been sent outside in the wintry cold. The dog tells the snowman about a warm stove inside the house, and with a "crack-crackle" in his heart, Stan falls in love with the wood-burning beauty. The unlikely romance, doomed from the start, is only the beginning in this hilarious and heartwarming tale as Stan later discovers that a young snowwoman is swooning over him as well.

Storybook Musical Theatre, the Philadelphia area based professional Equity children's theatre company will present the Hans Christian Andersen tale of a disheveled girl, who must prove she is a real princess by taking a very strange test involving twenty mattresses and a tiny pea. The musical plays for the holidays from December 23 to December 30 at the Gratz College Theater, 7605 Old York Road in Melrose Park, PA. Tickets are $12 for children and $14 for adults. Bloomington Theatre and Art Center will bring back Striking 12, a Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) holiday production directed by Christine Weber. Performances are Friday, Dec. 13 - Sunday, Dec. 29 with a special performance on Dec. 31.
