Broadway rocker Justin Matthew Sargent, best known for his star turn as 'Drew' in Broadway's Rock of Ages, has landed the coveted role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man role in Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. Sargent will play evening performances at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) beginning tonight, September 16. Reeve Carney, the original lead Peter Parker, played his final performance last night in order to begin shooting for the new Showtime series Penny Dreadful. Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the World Premiere stage adaptation of Marguerite Duras' The North China Lover, translated by Leigh Hafrey and adapted and directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman. The North China Lover runs September 25 - November 10, 2013.

Touchstone Theatre presents guest artist Brett Keyser in the one-man show, Darwinii: The Comeuppance of Man. The show performs October 4 and 5 at 8pm at the Charles A. Brown Ice House in Bethlehem, PA in conjunction with Ice House Tonight.

Last night, August 29, the latest Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sergeant Ty Carter, attended Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. This past Monday, Carter was honored by President Obama this past Monday for rescuing a fellow soldier in Afghanistan. At the end of the performance, Bob Cuccioli (Green Goblin) gave a curtain call speech honoring Carter, and then welcomed him back stage for a meet and greet with cast members Rebecca Faulkenberry and Reeve Carney. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, earlier this month, Daniel Curry, an actor from SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK was tragically injured during a performance of the accident-plagued Broadway musical. On August 15, the performance was halted and audience members sent home after a piece of equipment pinned an actor's leg underneath it, causing the injury. According to the New York Times, Curry remains at Bellevue Hospital, where he just had his third foot surgery.

NBC reports that an actor was injured on the set of Broadway's SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK this evening, August 15.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Broadway's high-flying spectacular, is launching a massive coast-to-coast search to find its next Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Los Angeles, at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, on Monday, August 12 beginning at 9:30 a.m. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the show's original and current star (and Los Angeles native), Reeve Carney (who is scheduled to depart the production on Sunday, September 15, 2013) is taking the trip to Los Angeles to be at the casting call to meet and greet hopefuls.
