Betty Buckley's STORY SONGS #2, the artist's new show at Joe's Pub running through Sunday night, was initially supposed to have another, darker title. She won't divulge the original choice, but one can certainly imagine. Making a sequel to the original, which, as a mixtape of numbers rich to the core with vibrant tales, was one of 2016's best solo shows, it feels like a momentary return to some form of normalcy, musical comfort food in its purest form.

The Television Academy has announced the names of the new inductees into its Hall of Fame. This year's honorees include Shonda Rhimes, Joan Rivers and the entire original cast of SNL.

The Second City and Gilda's Club Chicago celebrated a once in a lifetime evening at the comedy institution's iconic Mainstage theater during a star-studded benefit, I Can't Believe They Wendt There: The Roast of George Wendt. More than 230 guests dined, drank and donated while being entertained by a raucous panel of roasters and special guests that concluded with a surprise appearance by Chris Rock.

Emma Palzere-Rae is currently playing Essie Miller, a savvy wife and mother in a Connecticut town in 1906. She's a loving wife to Nat, a newspaper owner, an understanding sister to Sid, who has trouble keeping a job, and a concerned mother for her children, ages teenage on up. Emma herself lives in southeastern Connecticut with her husband and two sons.

The Second City, Chicago's legendary sketch and improv comedy theater, returns to The Cape Playhouse for a special fall engagement with a new show, The Best of The Second City. This must-see show features the best sketches and songs from The Second City's 55-year history made famous by superstars like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and more-- as well as their trademark improvisation. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts announces over 20 newly booked events to accompany the already-announced 2017-18 season. Highlights include internationally-acclaimed stars of rock, comedy, dance, and even politics as well as Tony Award-nominated Broadway titles. Tickets for these shows are on sale now to Kimmel Center members and will be available to the general public on September 9. Producers Lorne Michaels and Stuart Thompson have announced casting for the world premiere of the Broadway-bound new musical Mean Girls with a book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the Paramount Pictures film; music by three-time Emmy Award winner Jeff Richmond; and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

59E59 Theaters will welcome Throughline Artists with SUMMER SHORTS 2017, the annual festival of six short plays tailor-made for summer viewing, now celebrating its 11th season. SUMMER SHORTS 2017 begins today, July 21 and runs through Saturday, September 2.

Today's subject Ryan Asher is currently living her theatre life onstage at Kennedy Center's Theater Lab as one of the company members for The Second City's Almost Accurate Guide to America: Divided We Stand. The production runs through August 13th.

Our hearts go out to the members of Kingsmen Shakespeare Company who are mourning the unexpected death of John Slade. John was directing this summer's production of JULIUS CAESAR set to open July 21st. The show will go on with the festival's founder stepping in to bring his colleague's vision to the stage.

Love Letters, A.R. Gurney's disarmingly funny, emotional portrait of the rebellious Melissa Gardner and straight-as-an-arrow Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, is coming to the stage of the Orpheum's Halloran Centre for two nights on June 23 and June 24.
