The Bridge House Theatre in Penge present their first venture outside of producing their Christmas season: a bold new take on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night starring Olivier Award winner George Maguire as Malvolio/Orsino in his Shakespearean debut, adapted and directed by Artistic Director Guy Retallack and produced by Rob Harris at Bridge House Productions

Billy Elliot o Musical is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and the book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film's screenplay. The plot revolves around Billy, a motherless British boy who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the 1984-85 UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England. Hall's screenplay was inspired in part by A. J. Cronin's 1935 novel about a miners' strike, The Stars Look Down, to which the musical's opening song pays homage.

PlayGround concludes the 25th season of its celebrated Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series with a special evening of environmental-inspired plays as part of the 5th annual PLANET EARTH ARTS NEW PLAY FESTIVAL on Monday, April 1, 8 PM at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. The topic for the April 1 program (rescheduled from the previously announced March 18 date) is "BORDERS, ISLANDS & WALLS". Members of the 2018-19 PlayGround Writers Company have just five days to generate their original ten-minute plays inspired by the topic. The top six scripts will each receive an hour-and-a-half rehearsal and a professional script-in-hand staged reading at Berkeley Rep on April 1.

PlayGround continues its 25th season of its celebrated Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series with the first 2019 Monday readings on Monday, January 21, 8 PM at Berkeley Repertory Theatre's Roda Theatre. The topic for January's round, announced last Friday, is "ADAPT A FAIRY TALE". Members of the 2018-19 PlayGround Writers Company have just four-and-a-half days to generate their original ten-minute plays inspired by the topic. The top six scripts will each receive an hour-and-a-half rehearsal and a professional script-in-hand staged reading at Berkeley Rep on January 21. PlayGround writers in Los Angeles are working simultaneously on the same prompt and their finalists will be presented at Hollywood's Broadwater Mainstage (home of Sacred Fools Theatre Company) on January 14. Lin-Manuel Miranda surprised the young cast of the British Theatre Academy's critically acclaimed production of his musical 'Bring It On' by watching the final show of their sold-out London summer season at Southwark Playhouse.

After two years in summer residence at the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End, The British Theatre Academy are to present the acclaimed Broadway musical Spring Awakening, winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Book and Score and 4 Olivier Awards including Best New Musical, at Stockwell Playhouse from Thursday 16 - Sunday 19 August.

The hit musical inspired by the life of rock legend Marc Bolan, 20th Century Boy, returns to the stage on a UK-wide tour to mark the 40th anniversary of the iconic star's untimely death. Opening on 8 March at G-Live in Guildford, the production will enjoy a 20-week tour, visiting 27 theatres through to Saturday 30 June.

Lyricist and actor Rory Sherman makes his London cabaret debut joined by West End stars including Lauren Samuels, Dev Joshi and accompanied by Ellie Verkerk. After five years offstage Rory Sherman returns in Pink- A Cabaret. Making his London cabaret debut, Rory explores identity, purpose, the contrasts of growing up in The North West and New Zealand and the ups and downs of charity work. Joining Rory from his first album Ms. A Song Cycle is Lauren Samuels (Romantics Anonymous, Bend it like Beckham), Dev Joshi (King Cowboy Rufus Rules The Universe) and accompanied by musical director Ellie Verkerk on piano.

Tony Award nominated Broadway musical Bring It On The Musical, a universal coming-of-age story that mixes competitive cheerleading, high school politics and teenage romance, is be produced by The British Theatre Academy. The BTA will also revive the acclaimed Broadway musical Spring Awakening The Musical, winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Book and Score and 4 Olivier Awards including Best New Musical, at The Stockwell Playhouse from Tuesday 14 - Sunday 19 August.

We're just about to start the third week of rehearsal for our in-house Christmas show Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play. This marks the sixth European premiere we have staged here at the Bridge House Theatre in Penge. What really distinguishes this show from the others is that we're only the second company to perform it in the world, so it's particularly exciting to be producing seasonal work that's so new.

The British Theatre Academy is to present The Tony Award-winning musical In The Heights from Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the global hit sensation Hamilton at The Stockwell Playhouse on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 October.

Award-winning composer Ryan Scott Oliver's musical 35MM: A MUSICAL EXHIBITIOn began at The Other Palace Studio on 18 September for a run through 30 September. The show opens tonight and BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action!

An original musical with music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County) and book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn, it premiered on Broadway in 2008 and is the only Broadway musical ever with a cast and band entirely made of teenagers.
