BWW TV: Billys Unite! 25 Former Stars Return to West End BILLY ELLIOT Broadcast - Watch Highlights!

This weekend saw a record breaking twenty-five former and current Billy Elliots come together on stage in a specially choreographed mash-up finale of Billy Elliot the Musical. At a unique performance, broadcast live to eight countries from the show's West End home at the Victoria Palace Theatre, all three original Billy Elliots - James Lomas, George Maguire and Liam Mower - took part in the spectacular finale. Two special screenings of Billy Elliot the Musical Live also took place at the historic Easington Social Welfare Centre, formerly the Easington Colliery Miners' Institute, one of the settings for Billy's inspiring story. On Sunday 28 September, Liam Mower will join the cast of Billy Elliot the Musical for a special performance to be broadcast live from the Victoria Palace Theatre to cinemas across the UK and around the world. Mower, who will play the role of Older Billy, originated the role of Billy Elliot in 2005 along with George Maguire and James Lomas, and was the first boy ever to play the role on stage. (more...)

According to the Daily Mail, the original Billy Elliot -- Liam Mower -- is returning to the musical for one night only as part of its BILLY ELLIOT LIVE special performance on September 28. The event will be broadcast in UK cinemas, live from the Victoria Palace Theatre. Mower, now 22, will play the grown-up Billy in the musical's fantasy sequence featuring young Billy dancing with his older self. (more...)

I was fortunate enough to see 20th Century Boy on its debut outing at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry back in September 2012 and it was probably the best show I had seen that year. The production is the perfect balance between a jukebox musical and a biography detailing Marc Bolan's rise to fame until the tragic car accident that killed him in 1977. Peter Rowe's writing is superb and brings in the added element of Marc's son Rolan trying to find out about his father who died when he was only two. (more...)

The Daily Mail reports that Hampstead Theatre's SUNNY AFTERNOON might soon be transferring to the West End -- or even the big screen. Actor/director Dexter Fletcher allegedly appeared at the show with film producers Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich to scout the production. Craig Adams and Steven Luke Walker joined Gealt in concert for a TransAtlantic mix of new musical theatre. Matthew Barrow, Craig Colton, Danielle Hope, Kelly Anne Gower and Jennifer Tierney were also performing, plus two of the three 'Quiet' competition winners' Daniel Gregory (PPA 3rd year) and Tom Cromwell (from Australia). Due to investment money from China being tied up in international banking red tape, there was a delay to the opening of THE GOLDEN VOICE, a new British musical by singer-songwriter Nick Fogarty. The musical was originally planned to preview from Wednesday 12 June, and open on 19 June, but will now open at the Arts Theatre tonight, 26 July, previewing from 17 July. The limited season is still due to end on Saturday 31 August. (more...)
