After a successful first half of the year in Arts Centre Melbourne's State Theatre, the Morning Melodies concert series returns to its home in the newly refurbished Hamer Hall. Opera diva Suzanne Johnston finishes off the State Theatre season, before the likes of Orchestra Victoria, Victorian Opera and Kane Alexander perform in the acoustics of the new Hamer Hall.

The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts announces the Live @ Peck Pavilion series in Marcus Center's Peck Pavilion that will kick off this month. A high energy tribute to the music of Broadway, along with musical selections made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr., audiences can expect to hear classics such as 'Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries', 'Mr. Bojangles' and even 'Defying Gravity'. The latest edition of Conrad Herwig's Latin Side series finds him tackling the music of an artist with whom he has performed extensively: saxophonist Joe Henderson. This week's series of shows at the Blue Note marks the latest in the trombonist's string of Latin Side recordings and performances, including The Latin Side of Herbie Hancock (2010), The Latin Side of Wayne Shorter (2008), Sketches of Spain y Mas(2006), Another Kind of Blue (2004), and The Latin Side of John Coltrane (1998). Tuesday and Wednesday night feature special guest Ronnie Cuber (baritone sax) whereas Joe Lovano (tenor sax) will be with the band the rest of the week.
TTC of Hoboken Presents THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, 7/13-29

The Theater Company of Hoboken (TTC) will reprise its production of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE in not one, but two unique outdoor venues this month. This delightful, comic operetta, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert, is directed by veteran TTC director/adaptor/actor Clara Barton Green. Great for all ages, performances will be July 13-15 & 20-22, 2012 at 7pm at Frank Sinatra Park in Hoboken and July 28 and 29, 2012 at 4pm at The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery.

The 2012 Hollywood Bowl July 4th Fireworks Spectacular features American pop icon Barry Manilow, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by conductor Sarah Hicks. Tonight, July 4, at 7:30 PM, this Independence Day celebration begins with the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by conductor Sarah Hicks treating the audience to patriotic favorites. For the second half, Barry Manilow - the top Adult Contemporary chart artist of all time - will perform an array of his hit songs including "Mandy," "I Write the Songs," "Looks Like We Made It," "Can't Smile Without You," and the Grammy-winning "Copacabana (At the Copa)." The evening ends with what is widely regarded as one of the region's top July 4th pyrotechnic displays.
