A great, big Broadway season is on its way, with fourteen productions already slated to open in the next few months. Broadway's smash hit Motown the Musical just marked the production's 500th performance on Broadway last night, June 26 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, featuring music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and a book by Berry Gordy, opened on Broadway on April 14th, 2013 at The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). The producers of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL have announced that Josh Tower (The Lion King, original cast of Ragtime) will assume the role of "Berry Gordy" beginning Today, June 17 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

The 32nd Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards were held on Monday, June 2 at 7:30pm at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The winners for the evening were Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards (After Midnight) & Karine Plantadit (AfterMidnight) a tie for Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show; Jared Grimes (After Midnight) for Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show; and Warren Carlyle (After Midnight) for Outstanding Choreographer for a Broadway Show. She will be joined by Broadway performers Ben Platt (Book of Mormon), Ben Fankhauser (Newsies), Emma Hunton (Next to Normal) and many more as they present material from new musicals by up-and-coming composers. Nic Rouleau, currently starring in The Book of Mormon on Broadway, and Donna Vivino, who played Elphaba in Broadway's Wicked, will sing songs from brand new musicals in the Cutting-Edge Composers concert at 54 Below on 2/17 at 9:30pm.

On February 17th at 9:30pm, Cutting-Edge Composers will present their fifth concert at 54 Below! Committed to showcasing up-and-coming musical theatre writers by providing them with concert venues, Broadway performers and musicians, Cutting-Edge Composers has an exclusive video spotlight on Broadwayworld.com.
