The Obie and Drama Desk Award-winning Ma-Yi Theater Company -- one of the nation's leading theaters dedicated to developing and producing new and innovative plays by Asian American writers -- will celebrate its 25th anniversary season in 2013-14, beginning with the New York premiere of BIKE AMERICA by Mike Lew, with previews September 24 prior to an official opening night on October 1 Off-Broadway at The Theater at St. Clement's (423 W. 46 St.) in Manhattan.

Playwright Christopher Durang, who recently won the Tony Award for Best Play, and celebrated playwright John Augustine have been announced as Playwrights in Residence at Texas State University for the 2013-14 season as part of the Bowman Guest Artist Series.

The music of legendary Asian rock group, Ming Dynasty, is revived in The Sister Rosettas, presented by terraNOVA Collective September 13th, 20th & 27th at 9:30 at IRT Theater. Featuring Diana Oh.

The Billie Holiday Theatre's Executive Director Marjorie Moon announces the appointment of director, actor, playwright, and novelist Jackie Alexander as the Theatre's Artistic Director.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present a staged reading of Christina Gorman's Far From the Trees, directed by Tim Raphael, tonight, August 21 at 7:30pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center (14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, Mass.). There is no charge for admission, however, Berkshire Playwrights Lab suggests a $10.00 donation to help offset its programming costs. Theatre of NOTE presents the world premiere of SHEET CAKE SLIDING, written by Stacia Saint Owens and directed by Nicholas Newell. SHEET CAKE SLIDING, in which a nuclear family goes BOOM!, will preview Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14, and will open on Friday, September 20 at 8pm and run through Saturday, October 19 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

New Perspectives Theatre Company (NPTC) has announced DEAD RECKONING, the 6th Annual Women's Work Short Play Festival with three original scripts developed to that theme. The festival runs from Tuesday, August 13th to Saturday, August 17th with performances at 4:00pm and 7:30pm. DEAD RECKONING performs at NPTC Studio, 458 West 37th Street (at 10th Avenue.)

Molly Rydzel's Certifiable, directed by Mark Karafin, makes its world premiere at the Connelly Theatre at 7pm tonight, August 11, 2013 as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC).

Zam Not Spam Productions, as part of the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival, presents the NYC premiere production of Laura Zam's MARRIED SEX, directed by Shirley Serotsky. MARRIED SEX will play a special engagement at the Fringe Venue #9 Jimmy's No. 43 (43 East 7th Street, NYC). Performances begin today, Saturday, August 10 (3:45 pm) and continue through Thursday, August 22 (7:00 pm).

The Flea Theater is proud to announce the New York Premiere of Jonathan Caren's THE RECOMMENDATION. This play about friendship, class and where loyalty has its limits will be directed by Flea Resident Director Kel Haney and feature members of The Bats. Previews begin August 23 with opening slated for September 6. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, "we are thrilled to open our fall season with a play that speaks to our times and shows off the talents and diversity of our company."

Steppenwolf Theatre Company's eighth annual First Look Repertory of New Work features three developmental productions of new plays presented in rotating repertory now through August 25, 2013 in the Garage Theatre (1624 N Halsted St). Check out photos from the productions below!

Second Thought Theatre presents the final production in its ninth season, In a Forest, Dark and Deep by Neil LaBute. Director Regan Adair returns to STT for the first time since 2011's critical hit, Red Light Winter. In a Forest, Dark and Deep will run in previews today, August 9 - 10, 2013. Opening and Press Night is Thursday, August 15 at 7:30pm. The show closes August 31.

The Delaware Theatre Company announces the celebrity casting of their first production of the 2013-2014 Season, ANY GIVEN MONDAY by Bruce Graham. Following a momentous 2013/2014 Season in which 47% of the audience was brand new to the Theatre, DTC anticipates strong turnouts at each performance for the chance to see these four cast members.

ALBERT PODELL and THE YORK SHAKESPEARE COMPANY are pleased to announce the world premiere production of Alexander Harrington's The Great Society, directed by Seth Duerr. The Great Society will play a four-week limited engagement at the Clurman Theatre (Theatre Row: 410 West 42nd Street, NYC). Performances began Saturday, August 3 and continue through Saturday, August 24. Opening Night is tonight, August 8 (8 p.m.).
