The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today four musicals to be developed at its 2012 National Music Theater Conference (NMTC).

Theater Latté Da presents in partnership with the University of Minnesota Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, SPRING AWAKENING, with book and lyrics by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik, directed by Peter Rothstein, music direction by Denise Prosek, and choreographed by Carl Flink. The production will run through May 6th.

After receiving positives reviews from critics and audiences alike - and selling out every performance of its January run - Balagan Theatre brings the coming-of-age rock musical, Spring Awakening, back to Seattle in April, plus a weekend tour to Mount Vernon in May.

According to UK theater company Headlong's 2012-2013 season announcement, the group will be producing playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Grammy and Tony-winning songwriter Duncan Sheik's musical American Psycho, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. Directed by Rupert Goold, the show will be a co-production with Act 4 Entertainment and The Collective. No word yet on where the production will be produced.

Barrymore-winning actor Michael Doherty will be performing as Georg in The Media Theatre's Philadelphia premiere of Spring Awakening. The Tony winning musical has a radio-friendly score by Duncan Sheik and is based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 piece focusing on the German students coming of age in a repressed society.

The Media Theatre has the Philadelphia/ Wilmington region's professional premiere of the musical Spring Awakening April 18-May 20.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre's SPRING AWAKENING does not totally rock, but it's not totally f**ked, either.

It's rather ironic that this week-a week in which members of the Tennessee State Senate considered a bill that would outlaw such "gateway sexual activities" as hand-holding and kissing among the state's schoolchildren-that Clarksville's Roxy Regional Theatre would unveil its rock-solid production of Spring Awakening, the Duncan Sheik/Steven Sater musical about sexual repression and the perils of denying the possibilities of carnal knowledge and an accompanying sense of self-awareness among teenagers in Germany in the late 19th century.

Today, the spotlight falls upon Gregory Pember, who is currently onstage at Clarksville's Roxy Regional Theatre, opening tonight in the Tony Award-winning Duncan Sheik/Steven Sater musical Spring Awakening, based on German playwright Frank Wedekind's play of the same name. Greg takes on the role of Moritz Stiefel, the dreamy-eyed, nervous and sex-obsessed teenager with the interesting hair in the recent Broadway and touring productions-and the role that won John Gallagher Jr. the Tony Award for Featured Actor in a Musical.

Signal Ensemble Theatre announces the final production in their 2011-2012 season, the Chicago premiere of Hostage Song, May 5 - June 9, at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 West Berenice Ave. Clay McLeod Chapman writes the production with music and lyrics by Kyle Jarrow, directed by Signal's Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra with music direction by Signal Ensemble Member Jon Steinhagen. The performance schedule for Hostage Song is Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.
