Earlier this month, celebrated Brazilian jazz vocalist Maucha Adnet, acclaimed Israeli jazz clarinetist/saxophonist Anat Cohen, Broadway's Sierra Boggess, Tony Award winner Alice Ripley, and International Opera star and Tony Award winner Paulo Szot gave a special preview of their upcoming 54 Below's engagements. Quiza no te suena su nombre, pero Ben Plat lleva muchos años en el mundo del musical. Durante 2012 compagino la gira nacional de The Book of Mormon con el rodaje de Dando la nota (Pitch Perfect), su debut cinematografico que hoy ha salido a la venta en DVD y Blu-Ray en el que interpreta a un muchacho que forma parte de uno de esos grupos universitarios de canto a capella. En Dando la nota comparte protagonismo con Anna Kendrick y Skylar Astin, otros dos actores sobre los que tambien escucharemos mucho en los proximos meses. Billy Porter, 2013 Tony Award Winner for Best Actor in a Musical (Kinky Boots) surprised students of Broadway Artists Alliance Summer Intensive Session One with his appearance on July 25th. Porter entertained the students with tales of his experiences. In addition, he participated in a Q&A, answering student's questions and providing advice for young performers. Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today additional casting for its upcoming production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet starring Elizabeth Olsen as Juliet. Academy Award winner William Hurt will play the role of Friar Laurence; Emmy Award nominee T.R. Knight has been cast as Mercutio and Tony Award nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega as the Nurse. CSC also announced that Finn Wittrock, previously announced to co-star as Romeo, has withdrawn from the production due to a film offer. A new Romeo and complete casting will be announced shortly. CSC's Romeo & Juliet, which begins performances Friday, September 27, will be directed by Tea Alagi? (Jackie). The official opening night is Wednesday, October 16. Romeo & Juliet will play a limited engagement through Sunday, November 3. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, September 5 at 12pm.

Earlier this year, on March 18, Van Dean, Kenny Howard, and Michael J. Moritz, Jr. brought together a melange of Broadway's most impressive young talent for WHEN I GROW UP: BROADWAY'S NEXT GENERATION, a cabaret concert at 54 BELOW. Kenny Howard says that this group inspired him 'not only with their talents but also with a maturity that is far beyond their years.' For this cabaret concert, the children tackle the adult repertoire of their heroes, taking on music from SPRING AWAKENING, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, AVENUE Q, [TITLE OF SHOW], and more.

Lyons and Pakchar are a new contemporary writing duo blending Pop/R&B for the Theatre. Their debut album #LOVE, which explores the good, bad, and awkward roller coasters in human relationships, will be recorded live in concert on Monday, August 19th at The Cutting Room at 8pm.

The Ridgefield Theater Barn will present a very special concert, 'The Music of Duncan Sheik, featuring hits from Spring Awakening', reuniting the cast from their sold-out, critically acclaimed fall production. Directed by Alicia Dempster, and produced by Wayne Leiss, with Musical Direction by Sam Sultan, the concert will be presented two nights only, tonight, July 26th and Saturday July 27th at 8pm.

Last week, BroadwayWorld reported that NEXT TO NORMAL's Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa joined the creative team for MAGIC MIKE, THE MUSICAL, based on the Steven Soderbergh-helmed film starring Channing Tatum. Since then, Tatum, who will produce the musical, has confirmed that the show is heading to the Great White Way tweeting: #MagicMikeTheMusical is headed to Broadway...

Deadline.com reports that MAGIC MIKE, THE MUSICAL has revealed its creative team. NEXT TO NORMAL's Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey will write the songs, with SPIDER-MAN's Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa crafting the book, which is based on the Steven Soderbergh-helmed film starring Channing Tatum.
