The Playhouse - San Antonio's current production of Spring Awakening may be delighting critics and the vast majority of audience members, but a few close-minded and fearful audience members are creating quite a commotion

The Eklektix Theatre Company will present a 2-night-only concert staging of the Tony Award-winning Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater rock musical Spring Awakening on May 31 and June 1, 2013 at Houston's Barnevelder Movement Arts Center, 2201 Preston St. Check out a behind-the-scenes look at the cast's first rehearsal below!

The Eklektix Theatre Company will present a 2-night-only concert staging of the Tony Award-winning Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater rock musical Spring Awakening on May 31 and June 1, 2013 at Houston's Barnevelder Movement Arts Center, 2201 Preston St.

Kathy Evans, Founder and Executive Director, announced the nine musicals and eighteen writers selected for the third summer of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat. For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 23rd, each writing team will have an individual weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their musical. All costs are fully funded by donors including The ASCAP Foundation, The Dramatists Guild Fund, and The Noel Coward Foundation. Writers include Tony-winners and nominees Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), and Heidi Rodewald and Stew (Passing Strange), and multi-award winners Adam Gwon, Laura Harrington, Joe Iconis, Kait Kerrigan, and Brian Lowdermilk.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today that their new production of Bertolt Brecht's THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE featuring Christopher Lloyd (Azdak), directed by Brian Kulick (who directed Brecht's Galileo last season), and featuring new music by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), will extend for two additional weeks through Sunday, June 23.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, presents a new production of Bertolt Brecht's The Caucasian Chalk Circle featuring Christopher Lloyd (Azdak), directed by Brian Kulick (who directed Brecht's Galileo last season), and featuring new music by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening). The Caucasian Chalk Circle began performances on May 3 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 9. The official opening is Thursday, May 30. Set in 1891 Germany, Spring Awakening by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater is as current as Roe v. Wade, and as American as apple pie. Directed by Shannon Jarrell-Ivey and choreographed by Wendy Ellis, with music direction by Andrew Hendley, the musical runs at The Playhouse - Russell Hill Rogers Theater tonight, May 17, through June 9, 2013.

Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Eric C. Engel recently announced Gloucester Stage's 34th season of producing professional theatre in Gloucester Massachusetts to begin on June 20 with the award winning musical Spring Awakening directed by Engel.

Shorewood Drama will present an unedited version of the musical SPRING AWAKENING for six performances only beginning May 10 in the SHS Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for Adults and $5 for Students.
