When an elderly tramp is given lodging in the derelict home of two brothers, the ensuing relationships and shifting alliances intensify with hilarious and unsettling consequences in Harold Pinter?s great psychological drama, The Caretaker. Featuring John Kuntz as Aston, Michael Balcanoff as Davies, and Joe Lanza as Mick and directed by Daniel Gidron, The Nora Theatre Company presents The Caretaker from Thursday, October 1 through Sunday, November 1 at Central Square Theater. The Press Opening is set for Sunday, October 4 at 2 PM.

Native Chicago playwright Alan Gross teams up with director Steven Robman to bring his newest work, High Holidays, to Goodman Theatre. At the center of this four-character drama-inspired by Gross' own life and family experience-is young Billy Roman (Max Zuppa) and the anxiety-riddled preparations for his Bar Mitzvah in 1963 north suburban Chicago.

Variety reports that screen star and Drama Desk-winning actor Anthony Hopkins will star in Thor, the Kenneth Branagh helmed film for Marvel Studios. Production begins in January and Paramount Pictures will distribute the film on May 20, 2011.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) has announced that the West Coast premiere of David Mamet's presidential farce November has been extended by popular demand through Sunday, November 22, 2009. Directed by Ron Lagomarsino, November will have six additional performances: 8 p.m. performances Wednesday, November 18, through Saturday, November 21, with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22.

It is not news that technological advancement is the new center of global competition. Indeed, in today's world, we have become accustomed to wanting everything bigger, clearer, louder, and faster - and we want it now. This emerging perspective has led to a number of interesting innovations: music has become digitized such that album creation no longer requires singers to have the talent to stay on pitch or carry a tune; books have become screened via the Kindle; communication no longer requires the use of a voice or pen (when did you last send a letter via post?); and through online money management people can become rich without ever touching a dollar bill. The list goes on.
