A Portable Theatre, Central Ohio's professional touring company, will serve up a 'Pub Theatre' performance of David Mamet's comedy The Duck Variations on Thursday, August 20, at 8:00 p.m., at Woodlands Tavern at 1200 West Third Avenue in Columbus. Doors to the special event room will open at 7:00pm for theatre goers who wish to purchase dinner and cocktails before the show; appetizers and drinks are also available during the performance. Following a successful Spring/Summer tour, London Classic Theatre's Artistic Director Michael Cabot today announces a 14-week extension of Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends, as part of the company's 15th Anniversary Season. In its most ambitious programme to date, the company will open a second leg of Absent Friends on 19 August 2015, followed by a 12-week UK & Ireland tour of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot from 9 September 2015.  (more...)

David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow will travel to Puerto Rico as 'Jala-la-Pala' and will play four performances at El Corralon de San Jose in Old San Juan directed by Broadway's Luis Salgado, winner of the Best Director Award at the Thespis and Venus/Adonis Festivals for Song of Solomon and Zuccotti Park, respectively. The New York-based cast features Emmanuelle Bordas as Karen, Javier E. The Berkshire Playwrights Lab (BPL) will present the next play in the free Staged Reading Series on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 7:30 pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. The play follows Great Barrington's Dig+Dine outdoor dining event. 'Match,' by critically-acclaimed playwright Jennifer Maisel, is the story of a much-needed kidney, the donor and her intentions and the lives the decision to give impacts.
