Empty Country — the project of musician Joseph D'Agostino (Cymbals Eat Guitars) — returns with the release of their sophomore LP, Empty Country II, out now on Get Better Records (US) / Tough Love Records (UK).

Woods will be playing Woodsist Fest on September 25-26 at Arrowood Farms in Accord, NY with a lineup that includes Yo La Tengo, Kevin Morby, Parquet Courts, Kurt Vile, and more.

“The new track ‘Finally on Time’ is a piano ballad that revolves around a memory of driving through Northern California on tour,” says Canino. “Bands tend to bemoan the long drive from San Francisco to Portland, and this song celebrates it. It’s about coming home from tour but wishing you were still on ‘the 105,’ whichever road that might be.”

With his first full-length release in five years, Bleeker takes a warm and intimate approach that defines his mission for the project: “I wanted to capture the moment in which I fell in love with making music, to begin with. This is music for myself—me getting back to music for music’s sake.”

21C Music Festival - five days of newly-minted music during which audiences have an opportunity to experience fresh new sounds and ideas from the greatest musical minds of today - moves from May to January with the sixth edition of the festival. From January 16 to 20, this edition will celebrate the American minimalist composer Terry Riley, with his music being performed in three of the concerts, including one that he will headline, titled Terry Riley: Live at 85! Additionally, more than a half of the works presented during the festival will be receiving premieres - 6 world, 1 North American, 10 Canadian, 4 Ontario, and 1 Toronto, by 10 Canadian composers.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) embraces spring with renewed energy and fresh performances. On April 2, The TSO Presents Alligator Pie will delight children-big and small. Based on the children's poetry collection Alligator Pie by Toronto poet Dennis Lee, with music composed by Abigail Richardson-Schulte (The Hockey Sweater), the work was co-commissioned by the TSO and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. The two matinee performances (2:00pm and 4:00pm) bring together soprano Carla Huhtanen, host Kevin Frank, and Dennis Lee himself under the musical direction of RBC Resident Conductor Earl Lee.
