It takes a lot to get me to below 42nd Street, but this weekend, the treck down to the Abrons Arts Center was worth it - and then some! Our evening began with one of the best New York city meals that I've ever had, at the uber-hip Beauty & Essex on the Lower East Side with amazing sharing plates of delicious food prepared by chef Chris Santos (also of the equally wonderful Stanton Social restaurant). The cocktails weren't bad either. After being extremely well fed, with spot-on service and unexpected glamour we made our way on over to the Abrons Arts Center, just a few blocks away, for a night to remember.

Upon the 15th anniversary of the giant spider in the Village Halloween Parade, instead of the arachnid normally perched atop the Gothic Clock tower of The Jefferson Market Library, a special one night only installation will trick or treat the public this year. While the historic library goes under a façade renovation, This years video specter puppet serves, like the traditional marionette spider always has, as a visual treat for those participating in the Parade as well as those lined near the Library who can witness it's annual anticipated appearance.

The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2010 nominees at its annual sold-out event at the Carmine Street Recreation Center located at 25 Carmine Street. The 2010 IT Awards Ceremony will be on Monday, September 20, 2010.

Due to wide acclaim and overwhelming audience response, 'Arias with a Twist' has been extended through Sunday, August 31.

The all-new fully renovated HERE Arts Center proudly reopens its doors this Spring with Arias with a Twist, a premiere production from New York favorites Joey Arias and Basil Twist. Arias with a Twist marks the 10th Anniversary of the Dream Music Puppetry Program and the Dorothy B. Williams Theatre at HERE Arts Center. The production is presented as part of HERE's 2007-2008 season of new multi-disciplinary productions spanning theatre, dance, puppetry and multimedia work, which includes Dream Music programming. Arias with a Twist will run Thursday, June 12 - Saturday, July 13 at HERE Arts Center (145 Sixth Avenue).
