Performing in New York Showcase November 15, 2015 The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College    The opportunity to be onstage in the heart of the dance world is rare. Master ballet teacher Kat Wildish believes every dancer deserves the chance to achieve their dreams of performing, regardless of age or level. Since 2008, hundreds of diverse choreographers and thousands of international dancers have been featured.   

Nevada Ballet Theatre (NBT) is proud to present A Balanchine Celebrationas the Company's opening performance at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts for its 2015-2016 season. Each piece will be accompanied by a full orchestra featuring members of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, under the direction of guest conductor, Leif Bjaland. Performances will take place tonight, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m. with tickets starting at $29. Ballet Hispanico, celebrating 45 years of repertory that reflects the ever-changing diversity of Latino cultures, makes its annual holiday return to the Apollo stage with additional performances from November 20-21, 2015. The performances are sponsored by Univision Communications Inc. Led by Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro in his sixth season, Ballet Hispanico will present the world premiere of If walls could speak, an evening-length work choreographed by Fernando Melo and co-commissioned by the Apollo Theater on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 8pm and Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 8pm. For the first time at the Apollo Theater, Ballet Hispanico will also present a specially-priced family matinee, Saturday en Familia, on Saturday, November 21 at 2pm. Two Ballet Hispanico Performances for Young People / Apollo School Day Live shows of mixed repertory celebrating Latin American dance and culture will be offered to schoolchildren on the morning of Friday, November 20, presented through the Education programs of Ballet Hispanico and the Apollo Theater.

Signature Theatre has announced the cast of WEST SIDE STORY, directed by Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (Signature's Sunday in the Park with George, Cabaret). The musical, a collaboration of music, dance and theater giants Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Robbins and Arthur Laurents, is considered by some to be one of the greatest musicals of all time. WEST SIDE STORY will run from December 8 - January 24 in Signature Theatre's intimate MAX Theatre.

The launch of MY STORY, MY DANCE: Robert Battle's Journey to Alvin Ailey, the moving children's picture book from Simon & Schuster, was celebrated at The Ailey Studios on October 29th through reading, dancing and discussion.  Artistic Director Robert Battle was joined by author and illustrator couple Lesa Cline-Ransomeand James E. Ransome, who spoke about their personal connection to Ailey and their special roles in creating this heart-warming picture book biography.  Mr. Battle recounted how seeing Revelations for the first time as a boy in Miami set him on a path to achieve his goals.  "Having experienced first-hand the transformative power of the Ailey legacy, I'm honored by the creation of this book based upon my life," stated Battle, "It's so meaningful to know that this moving story will inspire the next generation of students to dream big and reach high."  Students from The Ailey School listened intently when Mr. Battle read from the book and beamed as they brought to life an excerpt from Alvin Ailey's masterpiece.  The students asked questions and soaked up Mr. Battle's wise and witty advice to stay focused, keep dreaming and dancing diligently, and to remember that if a boy with leg braces can grow up to be a dancer and choreographer, then they can accomplish anything.  Check out the photos of the book launch below!

Art Manke, who directed the World Premiere of THE MONSTER-BUILDER at Portland's Artists Repertory Theatre in 2014, makes his Aurora directing debut with this viciously funny comedy featuring Danny Scheie (The Mystery of Irma Vep), Rod Knapp (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity), Nancy Carlin (Hysteria), Thomas Gorrebeeck (The Eccentricities of a Nightingale), Tracy Hazas, and Sierra Jolene. Miro Magloire presents his New Chamber Ballet in an evening of works by Magloire, including a world premiere, and the company's resident choreographer Constantine Baecher.    Music goes hand in hand with the dance in concerts by Magloire, who is also a composer/pianist, and the November program features ballets to music by Bach, Mozart, Richard Carrick, Friedrich Cerha, and a new score by Michel Galante.
