KIDS WHO CARE is proud to announce a one-night only performance of alumni Jay Armstrong Johnson's personal, eclectic solo concert on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 7:30 PM. Last seen in New York at Feinstein's/54 Below, this intimate event will arrive at the home of Kids Who Care in the W.E. Scott Theatre (1300 Gendy, Fort Worth, TX 76107). Known for his thrilling vocal prowess, Jay has wowed Broadway audiences in On The Town, Hands on a Hardbody, Hair, and Catch Me If You Can. Johnson starred opposite Emma Thompson in the New York Philharmonic's Sweeney Todd and his performance in Encores' The Most Happy Fella was hailed by The New York Times as "a standout." Television audiences know him as Dr. Will Olsen from last season in the hit ABC drama Quantico.

The 2015-16 Janet and Mark L. Goldenson Broadway Musical Concert Series at Rubicon Theatre Company concludes with a concert presentation of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG.

Everyone's favorite ogre is back and bigger than ever in Shrek The Musical (TYA), the hilarious stage spectacle based on the Oscar-winning hit film by DreamWorks Animation. Signature Theatre presents the world premiere production of Disney's Freaky Friday. Developed by Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theatres, Freaky Friday features a book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. This premiere production will be directed by Christopher Ashley with choreography by Sergio Trujillo. Freaky Friday will run from October 4 - November 20 in Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre. American Lyric Theater (ALT) and Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center, in partnership with MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), presents The Halloween Tree on October 30, 2016 at 3pm in the Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center, 129 W 67th Street, New York City.  Based on Ray Bradbury's classic novel that explores the origins of Halloween, composer Theo Popov and librettist Tony Asaro take us on an epic journey as a group of children search for their friend Pipkin, who has mysteriously disappeared on Halloween night.

Bristol Riverside Theatre presents WORKING based on Studs Terkel's best-selling book and featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Wicked), and James Taylor running November 1-20.  Directed by Keith Baker, the ensemble cast features Demetria Joyce Bailey, Philip Chaffin, Laura Giknis, Tamar Greene, Jenny Lee Stern, and Kevin Toniazzo-Naughton.

Lincoln Center Theater's new production of William Finn and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos begins previews tonight, September 29, and runs for 14 weeks only at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street). The Philharmonia Orchestra of New York (PONY) is pushing the boundaries of the symphonic experience through the incorporation of high-tech visuals at each performance. This past March, the orchestra performed sold-out concerts at Jazz at Lincoln Center that garnered significant press attention. For our upcoming season, we are hosting a film competition to find a film student who will create a new film to be screened at PONY's upcoming concerts next spring.

Speaking to the press following their Emmy Award win for for Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special for GREASE LIVE! earlier this month, directors Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski teased the idea of bringing GREASE LIVE 2 to television.

In seeing the Tony winning Sherman Edwards/Peter Stone musical 1776, we get an interesting account of the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration Of Independence. It is actually uncanny - and kind of funny - how this story still resonates today; petty arguing amongst congress and how divided 'leaders' can be are emphasized in this production. Obviously we've come far since then but, at the same time, it seems not far at all.
