Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers Program to Launch in Select Omaha Classrooms

Dozens of local teachers will be at the Holland Performing Arts Center this month to attend a two-day workshop for the pilot year of the Carnegie Hall program, Musical Explorers. Musical Explorers is a semester-long, curriculum-based program for children in kindergarten through second grade presented by Omaha Performing Arts in partnership with Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute. More than 600 Omaha Public School students and educators from Gilder Elementary, Walnut Hill Elementary and Harrison Elementary will take part in the inaugural year, which culminates with an interactive concert at the Holland Center on May 3, 2016. The program is supported by Bank of the West, the Richard Brooke Foundation, Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Memorial Foundation, Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and The Presenters.

Back by popular demand - Apollo's Fire reprises its latest creative crossover program by Artistic Director Jeannette Sorrell, in collaboration with guest co-director Nell Snaidas. “Sephardic Journey: Wanderings of the Spanish Jews” premiered in five sold-out concerts in February 2014. The program will be performed during February 4-7 at several venues, including an important debut at the new Maltz Performing Arts Center of Case Western Reserve University. The performances will coincide with a highly anticipated release of the program on CD, for British record label AVIE.

Lynn University and Producer Jan McArt, producer and director of theatre arts program development, are launching the popular Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret at Lincoln Center comes to Live at Lynn Series early next year. From January through May five of Manhattan's leading cabaret headliners will appear in concert in Lynn's Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall.
