Theatre Under The Stars is presenting The Little Mermaid, running December 7 through 24 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

The Little Mermaid cast features many familiar faces for TUTS audiences. Delphi Borich will return to TUTS in the role of “Ariel.” Borich was previously seen on the TUTS stage as “Belle” in Disney's Beauty and the Beast during the musical theatre company's 50th Anniversary Season. Christina Wells, who was in previous TUTS productions of All Shook Up and Seussical, will play “Ursula.”

Prospect Theater Company has announced the performing artists involved in the company's 2020 Musical Theater Lab, MOVE MEANT. The lab's culminating presentations are Monday and Tuesday Feb. 17th and 18th at 7:00pm at The Ailey Citigroup Theater, The Joan Weill Center for Dance (405 West 55th St. at 9th Ave.)

When attending a jukebox musical, it's expected that the best part of the show will likely be the cherished songs and vocals. MAMMA MIA showcases music and lyrics by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, and a book by Catherine Johnson that is predictably a bit surface-level and 'cheesy', for lack of a better word. Of course, this effect is almost expected when adapting a collection of an artist's songs for the stage, and cheesy can be wonderful. However, there is a way to stage a cheesy musical without seeming inauthentic. There were moments in Theatre Under the Stars' MAMMA MIA that worked, and some that didn't.

It's time to break out all the glitter because Mark Price, who plays Harry Bright in The Theatre Under the Stars production of Mamma Mia is taking over the BroadwayWorld Instagram Story tomorrow! Theatre Under the Stars' BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the classic storybook tale vibrantly come to life in every aspect. From the captivating scenic design, to the brilliant costuming, to the songs that prompted many to sing along quietly to themselves in the audience, this 'tale as old as time' is a glorious re-imagination of the production that Theatre Under the Stars premiered for the first time 25 years ago in collaboration with Disney Theatrical Productions.

Twenty-five years ago, Theatre Under The Stars helped usher in a new musical era with Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The show became an international sensation that played a remarkable 13-year run on Broadway and has been produced in 37 countries worldwide. Now, just in time for the holiday season, TUTS brings this magical story to life once again for Houston audiences.

Casting has been announced for THE FLOOD, an original musical inspired by the historic 1993 Mississippi River Floods. This one night only special concert presentation will take place at TheTimesCenter (242 West 41st Street) on Saturday, September 8 at 8pm. Produced by the Prospect Theater Company, THE FLOOD kicks off their 2018-2019 season and this IGNITE series concert is presented in partnership with Greymatters Productions. 

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, will present MONUMENT, a collection of new mini-musicals in concert, the culmination of Prospect's 2018 Musical Theater Lab. MONUMENT, the company's 12th lab performance, will be presented on February 3, 2018 at 8pm at The TimesCenter (242 West 41st, NYC).

Critics J. Peter Bergman and Macey Levin once again hosted the ceremony, which saw top honors for Best Play go to the Berkshire Theatre Group's production of David Auburn's Lost Lake, and a tie between Barrington Stage Company's production of Stephen Sondheim's Company and the Mac-Haydn Theatre's production of Hello, Dolly! for Best Musical.

It's nearly impossible to not have fun while hearing some of ABBA's most iconic songs sung right before your eyes, especially by the wonderful team at Capital Repertory Theatre. Though the show itself is encompassed with flaws, Capital Rep's production of MAMMA MIA! is just what it should be: a fun night.

Cast members of the national tour of Sister Act: The Musical have a new tradition: #SIC, or Sunday Intermission Covers! Every Sunday during the show's 15-minute intermission, cast members rush backstage to perform a quick cover of one of their favorite songs. This week, the nuns pay homage to Whoopi Goldberg and the original sisters by singing 'Follow Him' in the style of the 1992 movie hit 'Sister Act.' Ta'Rea Campbell (Deloris) and Ashley Moniz (Sister Mary Robert) are joined by nuns Roberta Wall (Mary Lazarus), Jessica Sheridan, Erin Henry, Carla Woods, Micaela Martinez, Natalie Storrs, Dawn Rother, Stephanie Hayslip, Amy Persons, and Angie Marie Smith.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents the national tour of Sister Act for two weeks in the Kennedy Center Opera House from October 29 to November 10, 2013. Nominated for five 2011 Tony Awards, Sister Act features an original score with music by multi-Academy, Grammy, and Golden Globe Award-winning composer Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaidand Enchanted), lyrics by Tony and Academy Award-nominee Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid), and a book by multi-Emmy Award winners Cheri and Bill Steinkellner ("Cheers") with additional book material by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane (Xanadu, The Little Dog Laughed).Directed on Broadway by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (Guys and Dolls, A Funny Thing…Forum, Smokey Joe's Cafe), the production features choreography by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia, Bombay Dreams) and is based on the Touchstone Pictures motion picture Sister Act written by Joseph Howard.
