Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play You Can't Take It With You will begin previews on August 26, 2014, at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street), with an opening night set for September 28, 2014. The production will be directed by six-time Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk Award winnerScott Ellis (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Twelve Angry Men, 1776) and will play a limited run for 19 weeks only. Producers of the upcoming Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play You Can't Take It With You announce more cast members for the production which begins rehearsals on Monday, July 21st. The cast will include: Will Brill (Act One) as Ed Carmichael, Fran Kranz (Death of a Salesman) as Tony Kirby, Johanna Day (August: Osage County) as Mrs. Kirby, Nick Corley (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Austin Durant (War Horse) and Joe Tapper (Witnessed By The World, 59 E 59) as the three G-Men as well as Barrett Doss, Ned Noyes, Pippa Pearthree as understudies. The complete and final cast list will be announced next week.

Producers of the upcoming Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play You Can't Take It With You announce that Tony Award winner Elizabeth Ashley (Take Her, She's Mine, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Gore Vidal's The Best Man) joins the production in the role of The Grand Duchess Olga and Byron Jennings (The Merchant of Venice, Inherit the Wind) joins in the role of Mr. Kirby.

Earlier this week, Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ('The Sound of Music Live!', Gypsy, Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) hosted the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street). Big winners for the night included Audra McDonald, Bryan Cranston, Jessie Mueller, and Neil Patrick Harris and Jefferson Mays- who tied for Outstanding Actor in a Musical.

Second Stage Theatre's 35th Anniversary Gala celebration just honored Carole Rothman, Artistic Director of Second StageTheatre, for her 35 years of supporting new works and artistic development in New York City theatre. This year's rock n' roll themed gala was attended by over 250 Second Stage Alumni who have worked at Second Stage Theatre during the past 35 years, from Brooke Adams and Polly Draper who appeared in the very first season, to cast members from the currently running The Substance of Fire and the upcoming American Hero which will make its New York premiere this summer at Second Stage Uptown. Special guests participating in the evening's festivities included Lynn Nottage, Cynthia Nixon, Tony Goldwyn, and more.

Performers scheduled to appear in the entertainment, which will serve as the centerpiece of Lincoln Center Theater's Annual Benefit and which will be directed by Bartlett Sher, are Victoria Clark, Stephen Colbert, David Garrison, Malcolm Gets, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Byron Jennings, Kelli O'Hara, Steven Pasquale, and Lewis J. Last night, Roundabout Theatre Company honored Sam Mendes with the Jason Roberts Award for Excellence in Theatre. The criterion for this award is to have made an 'indelible impact on the theatre world.' The award was named after the founder of Roundabout and is given each year in remembrance of his own impact on the theatre world.

Signature Theatre is currently presenting the world premiere of THE OPEN HOUSE, by Will Eno and directed by Oliver Butler. BroadwayWorld 'Corner Table' blogger and lead critic Michael Dale wrote in his post tonight about a mishap 15 minutes into MACBETH, which led to the cancellation of the performance on Broadway this Thanksgiving eve.
