BWW Review: The Starry Eccles Theater Grand Opening Impresses

The newly completed George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City received a grand opening celebration fit for the stars on Friday, October 21. The beautiful building was the centerpiece of a concert that featured Rita Moreno, Megan Hilty, and Brian Stokes Mitchell, along with a slew of local performers.

PREMIERES, the New York based music theater organization whose mission is 'to bring new music theater to light,' has announced the complete cast and creative teams for this season's Inner Voices, the biannual series of solo works featuring new teams of playwrights and composers. Performances began October 3rd and continue through October 29 at The TBG Theatre (312 West 36th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues). Opening Night is tonight, October 13th at 8:00pm.

Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) has announced that it will stage four developmental presentations of Nikko Benson and Benjamin Halstead's NIKOLA TESLA DROPS THE BEAT, an electronic dance musical about history's most overlooked inventor. The first of seven developmental presentations of the 2016 - 2017 season, the production is directed by Marshall Pailet, features musical direction by Madeline Smith, choreography by Maxx Reed and dramaturgy by Jeffrey Stoller. Presentations are on Sept 30th at 3pm & 7pm and Oct 1st at 2pm & 7pm at Playwrights Horizons South Room, 416 West 42nd Street, 4th Floor. Running time is 75 minutes. Tickets are $18 and available at www.mtf.nyc

Riverdance- the Anniversary Tour returns to the USA from January to June 2017. J.L. Williams rejoins the ongoing 20th Anniversary tour and will be featured for the first time as the 'Baritone Soloist' who sings 'Freedom/Heal Their Hearts' as well as reprising his role as one of two African American tap dancers in the showstopping number 'Trading Taps'.

Not only was he juggling the album release of Disaster! on the day we met for this interview in a (noisy from construction) park on the Upper West Side, but at the same time, spearheading a dance remix video to Broadway for Orlando's 'What The World Needs Now Is Love.' 'We are filming a whole video with the ladies who did Beyonce's 'Single Ladies,' Seth explained. 'We are hoping that raises more money and more awareness.'

BroadwayWorld has just confirmed that Ryan Silverman will be co-starring with pal Melissa Errico in the Irish Rep's upcoming production of FINIAN'S RAINBOW! The actor announced the news that he'd be joining the production last night at Errico's Feinstein's/54 Below concert (in which he was a guest star).
