Hit City Digital Records has announced Henry Turner, Jr. & Flavor's 2013 Ultimate Louisiana Party II tour dates from June to September. The band will once again go on their annual circuit of Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington, performing in clubs, at festivals and hosting some Ultimate Louisiana Parties that feature local musicians, jam sessions and themed 'Taste of Louisiana' buffets.

The Grove Theatre announces the opening of A Piece of My Heart* on July 5th. Most histories of the Vietnam War say little about the women who served as nurses, Red Cross workers, and entertainers. A Piece of My Heart is a powerful, true drama about six women who went to Vietnam: five nurses and a country western singer booked by an unscrupulous agent to entertain the troops. The play portrays each young woman before, during, and after her tour in the war-torn nation and ends as each leaves a personal token at the memorial wall in Washington.

Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return to Bemelmans at The Carlyle Hotel with their evening of swinging standards tonight, June 9, then running every Today in June, from 9pm - 12 midnight. Pia Zadora was arrested this weekend on charges of domestic violence after a tiff with her teenage son over his bedtime, according to an update by the Associated Press. BroadwayWorld reported yesterday that the Broadway and cabaret star had been arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and coercion on June 1, 2013, at her home in a suburb of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was released on bail after posting $4,000.

I thought about many happy childhood musical theater memories last night while I attended the Dutch Treat Club's Annual Gold Medal Tribute Dinner and Show at the Harvard Club in honor of the legendary 'Fiddler of the Roof' lyricist Sheldon Harnick, who received the Club's Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Arts.
