LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & MC COY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT are thrilled to present the third production in its 2013-1014 season of shows, the 2009 Tony Award-winning play, GOD OF CARNAGE, written by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton and directed by Michael Arabian. GOD OF CARNAGE will preview tonight, January 24, 2014 (with a press opening on Saturday, January 25) and run through Sunday, February 16, 2014 at La MiradaTheatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.

While THE RIDE DOWN MOUNT MORGAN might not be considered one of playwright Arthur Miller's best works, there is still plenty to chew on here. The subject matter, bigamy, is certainly a touchy one, but what makes it even more so is the way it's handled. The St. Louis Actors' Studio has assembled a fine cast to bring this interesting, and surprisingly amusing, piece to life, and the direction is top notch as well. And, while I don't necessarily agree with Miller's point of view as expressed by the lead character (Lyman Felt), it's an intriguing argument that's sure to spark debate, and that's what good theatre does.

Today in 2010, A View From the Bridge opened at the Cort Theatre, where it ran for 81 performances. Written by American playwright Arthur Miller, the show was first staged on September 29, 1955 as a one-act verse drama with A Memory of Two Mondays at the Coronet Theatre on Broadway. The play is set in 1950s America, in an Italian American neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. It employs both a chorus and a narrator (Alfieri). Eddie, the tragic protagonist, has an improper love of, and almost obsession with, Catherine. The 2010 revival starred Liev Schreiber, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Hecht.

Celebrated producer and cabaret performer Jamie deRoy will be hosting a special edition of her multi-MAC Award-winning Variety Show, Jamie deRoy & Friends, on Monday, January 27 at 7pm at Birdland. Jamie's special guests will be Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Kevin Meaney (Hairspray), singer-songwriter Dee Snider, known worldwide as the frontman for Twisted Sister, and Lauren Worsham, who is currently starring in A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for Shakespeare's spellbinding romanceThe Winter's Tale. Artistic Director Barry Edelstein makes his Old Globe directorial debut with the show, the first indoor Shakespeare production at the Globe in over a decade. The Winter's Tale will run Feb. 8 - March 16, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the OldGlobe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Feb. 8 - Feb. 12. A Contemporary Theatre announces a full calendar of winter and spring shows that cover a broad range of modern theatre. From new plays to unique musicals to literary and reading events to sexy cabarets, 2014 is off with a bang at ACT Theatre. On the Mainstage, ACT kicks off 2014 with a co-production of Little Shop of Horrors with The 5th Avenue Theatre, follows with the dark and desperate Bethany by Laura Marks, and then revisits the genius of Arthur Miller's classic The Price.

The New Group continues its 2013-2014 season with the world premiere of Intimacy, a new play by Thomas Bradshaw. Directed by Scott Elliott, Intimacy features David Anzuelo, Austin Cauldwell, Ella Dershowitz, Laura Esterman, Daniel Gerroll, Dea Julien and Keith Randolph Smith. I began my work in the theatre as an actor. That was the passion that first led me to the stage as a young man. After a few years, the opportunity arose and I tried my hand at directing. I've been doing both for a long time now. Because I both act in plays and direct them, I sometimes get asked something along the lines of "Do you think of yourself as an actor or a director?" My answer is always the same: I am an actor who directs. I don't mean the answer to be flip or facetious. The fact that I was, and still remain, an actor at my core informs the way I direct a play.

Five finalists have now been named in the 2014 Great Gay Play And Musical Contest sponsored by Pride Films and Plays. The works are as varied as the writers, and PFP will present enhanced staged readings of these works in May at Center on Halsted.

The Pasadena Playhouse announced Bruce Davison, Sharon Lawrence and RoxAnne Hart to star in A SONG AT TWILIGHT by Noël Coward, the fifth production of its 2013 - 2014 Season. A SONG AT TWILIGHT is performed March 18 to April 13; the press opening is Sunday, March 23.

Murder, mayhem and poetry. Award-winning, visionary playwright Murray Mednick brings his unique sensibility to the hair-raising, sometimes violent, and often hilarious exploits of medieval poet Francois Villon in a world premiere production directed by the playwright. Villon opens on Feb. 15, presented by Padua Productions in a guest production at the Odyssey Theatre.

After five and a half years of residence at the Blue Star Arts Complex, Classic Theatre of San Antonio has made a new home in the Black Box of the Woodlawn Theatre! As a special treat, our debut production in the new space is Death of a Salesman.

Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Machinal, starring Rebecca Hall, written by Sophie Treadwell and directed by Lyndsey Turner, began previews on December 20, 2013 ahead of an official opening on January 16, 2014 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway.
