Photo Flash: Opening Night of THE PRISONER OF SECOND AVENUE

The Prisoner of Second Avenue revolves around the escalating problems of a middle-aged couple living on Second Avenue on the Upper East Side of New York City. Mel Edison (portrayed by Alexander), has just lost his job after many years and now has to cope with being unemployed at middle age. The action occurs during an intense summer heat wave and a prolonged garbage strike, which just exacerbates Edison's plight to no end as he and his wife Edna (Hecht) deal with noisy neighbors, loud sounds emanating from Manhattan streets, and even a robbery of their apartment in broad daylight.

Jimmy Smits, Donald Sutherland Join NBC Pilots

According to Deadline.com, Broadway veterans Jimmy Smits and Donald Sutherland are both set to star in television pilots this season. Smits will appear in NBC's untitled crime drama, while Sutherland is set for NBC's My Life As an Experiment.

According to a report by Variety, Steven Pasquale, Lucy Liu, Bobby Cannavale, and Annie Potts are set to star in Marry Me. The Lifetime movie will be broken up into multiple parts and be 4 hours total. The film will be directed by James Hayman, and will revolve around a woman who is looking for her Prince Charming. Marry Me will premiere during the holiday season.

Showtime Renews 'Nurse Jackie' and 'United States of Tara' for Third Season

On the heels of record ratings for their second season debuts, two of SHOWTIME'S critically and audience acclaimed original comedy series NURSE JACKIE and the Emmy(R) winning UNITED STATES OF TARA, have both been renewed for a third season.
