Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) opens its 55th season with the Bay Area premiere of The Addams Family, a new musical based on the delightfully macabre drawings by cartoonist Charles Addams. CCCT's production will be directed and choreographed by New York-based Alex Perez and music directed by Michael Wiles, with set design by Stewart Lyle, costume design by Lisa Danz, lighting design by Zoe Gopnik-McManus, and sound design by Michael Kelly. This multiple Tony and Drama Desk award nominee, with book by Marshall Brickman (Jersey Boys) and Rick Elice (Peter and the Starcatcher), and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), plays weekends from today, Sep 19-Oct 19.

Batman announced today that a group of political, cultural, and human rights leaders have come together to form an “Honorary Committee” in support of Tony and Grammy Award nominee Andrew Lippa's new oratorio, I Am Harvey Milk, which will have its New York premiere on Monday, October 6 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.

"The Laramie Project," a documentary-style drama set in Wyoming that recounts the brutal murder of an openly gay college student and named by Time magazine as 'one of the 10 best plays of the year" will launch Northwestern University's 2014-15 Mainstage season Oct. 24-Nov. 2. Palo Alto Players opens its 84th season with the West Coast premiere of the colorful and stirring musical, Big Fish (based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the Columbia Motion Picture written by John August). With music & lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by John August, this tender tribute to family and the magic of storytelling is a feast for the eyes, as well as the heart. Big Fish will play for 11 performances (September 12-28, 2014) at the Lucie Stern Theater, located at 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto.
