For awhile now, we have been receiving press materials and hearing about The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), but never witnessed the group first-hand. Well, that all changed this past Saturday night, in Philadelphia, when we decided to go to the Kimmel Center and see the 2011 Summer-Intensive weekend showcase, this year titled TRUE COLORS. I can honestly say that our jaws dropped. Directed and hosted by the newest addition to their impressive faculty line-up, Richard Jay-Alexander, the evening was like watching a skillfull PLAYLIST of Broadway 'gold' and 'showstoppers.' Two ACTS worth!

Philly's Broadway dreams will come true for the thirdconsecutive summer when The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) partners with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to present their Summer Performing Arts Intensive August 1 through Sunday, August 7, 2011. Acclaimed theatrical director and producer Richard Jay-Alexander and a roster of Broadway veterans will work with aspiring young performers from the Philadelphia area throughout the week in preparation for 'True Colors,' a one of a kind Broadway concert open to the public. The Broadway style concert event will take place at the Merriam Theater on Saturday, August 6th at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. They are thrilled to announce that Broadway's original Annie, Andrea McArdle, will be leading the class on Monday, July 25th. A representative from Telsey & Co., the casting directors for the revival, will also be present to lead an audition technique class. Space is limited, and only a few spots remain available.
