The Kennedy Center announced today the roster of artists who will be participating in Jimmy Heath at 90, a concert honoring the 90th birthday of the legendary saxophonist, composer, educator, and bandleader. The celebration will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall.

Kaufman Music Center's Face the Music, the country's only youth orchestra dedicated to studying and performing music by living composers, is tuning up for an exciting new season that includes a tribute to pioneering new music organization Bang On A Can to commemorate its 30th anniversary, performances of John Adams's notoriously difficult "Son of Chamber Symphony." as well as works by David Lang, Darcy James Argue, Snarky Puppy, Angelica Negron, Julia Wolfe and Missy Mazzoli.

Based on Ray Bradbury's classic novel that explores the origins of Halloween, composer Theo Popov and librettist Tony Asaro take us on an epic journey as a group of children search for their friend Pipkin, who has mysteriously disappeared on Halloween night.

At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, the Oakland Symphony Orchestra (OSO), Oakland University's orchestra-in-residence, will give the first of its two fall 2016 concerts. The season opener will offer an exciting program including Tiento del primer tono y batalla imperial by Cristobal Halffter; Concerto for Viola and Orchestra by William Walton with guest viola soloist Dr. Roman Kosarev; and Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 98 by Johannes Brahms.
