A gothic musical inspired by horror films from the 1960s and 1970s is the plot for the show Bosque dos Sonambulos (Sleepwalkers' Forest), which opens at Teatro Pequeno Ato. With libretto and direction by Matheus Marchetti and original compositions by Vitor Mascarenhas, the play embarks on a queer gothic fantasy told in songs.
There’s a cinematic quality to Maraschino's songs—equal parts Surrealism, Derek Jarman, Ken Russell (not to mention those Madonna classics), and its own meta-universe of characters and situations seen through eyes that have seen it all. The lyrics drip with equal parts honey and venom.
It's structurally a mess, but well worth your time to explore.

This documentary film, created and directed by Edoardo Gabbriellini, Italy, 2019, 64m, was presented on Dance Films Association and Film at Lincoln Center and premiered on Sunday, July 19, 2020. It is a well-made biopic about a choreographer/actor/dancer/mime/burlesque performer, Lindsay Kemp. At the age of 80, Kemp reflects on his life and career and states his views along with his recollections. We are treated to interviews and film clips from his career.
