El Mundo Returns To Houston Early Music Hispanic Heritage Series With 'Cathedrals, Monasteries & Missions'


A Houston Early Music favorite, ensemble El Mundo, returns with a festive new program of 17th- and 18th-century Christmas music from Latin America. Titled Cathedrals, Monasteries & Missions, the concert will take place Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral. This event is part of Houston Early Music's Hispanic Heritage Series.

Jennifer Jasper, in association with JewelBox Theater, presents a monthly cabaret all about family. Family Affair, hosted and curated by Jennifer Jasper. Storytellers, dancers, writers, musicians and artists share their hilarious, twisted and ultimately relatable familial skeletons on the third Today of each month. As needed, each performance benefits a family in the artist community who has had an unforeseen crisis. The evening closes with a new story randomly drawn from Jennifer's kooky family album of Jasper Jewels.

El Mundo Kicks off Houston Early Music Season, 10/12


Grammy-nominated ensemble El Mundo will kick off the Houston Early Music season with a program of 17th- and 18th-century Spanish, Italian and Latin American music at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, October 12, at 7:30 p.m. Part of the Hispanic Heritage Series, the program is titled "The Kingdoms of Castille" and will feature music from the group's CD of the same name, nominated for a Grammy Award last year.
