Write Out Loud - an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading short stories aloud for a live audience continues to celebrate the 2024 NEA BIG READ with community events. These community events celebrate the novel Circe by Madeleine Miller and Mythology by Edith Hamilton. 

Alice Abracen's powerful, award-winning play, The Covenant, treads a heart wrenching line through despair and dark humour. Beautifully crafted, the audience is transported to a heinous, immoral time in history that sadly rings too close to current and conceivable atrocities.

What does 'old' mean? How does growing older often mean becoming the 'other'? How does ageism intersect with genderism, ableism, racialization, and socio-economic marginalization?

With support from the Canada Council for the Arts 'Digital Now!' grant, Theatre Ouest End commissioned six seasoned Canadian playwrights to write short plays exploring the theme of age, ageing and the challenges of navigating an ageist world.

Suffering from the winter/pre-Valentine's Day blues? Théâtre Ouest End presents an evening of LOVE-readings eclectically and playfully interpreted by some of Montreal's established and emerging writers and performers. Théâtre Ouest End, Montreal's west/ouest end's newest theatre company, is back to welcome Halloween with an evening of readings from a great gathering of Montreal playwrights and performers on Friday, October 25 at their home space, Westmount Park United Church. On Monday, August 26th, ELAN will be celebrating 15 years of serving the English-speaking arts community of Québec. ELAN's 15th anniversary AGM and party at the Rialto Theatre (5723 park Ave.) will be a celebration of Québec's flourishing English-language arts community, featuring a slideshow of memorable moments and people, performances by ELAN members, and a booklet of photos and stories commemorating ELAN's first 15 years. The AGM and Anniversary Party are open to both members and the general public.

Kicking off on Memorial Day, May 27 at 8pm ET/PT with the premiere of Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal, Tiffany Smith and Charlie Field star as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in the follow-up to the 2018 hit film. Featuring an all-African American cast, Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta, Lifetime's modern take of the Jane Austen classic debuts Saturday, June 1 at 8pm ET/PT. Based on the bestselling novel, Adriana Trigiani's Very Valentine, premieres Saturday, June 8 at 8pm ET/PT, starring Kelen Coleman and Jacqueline Bisset, and follows the adventures of a young woman as she attempts to rescue her family's struggling shoe business and find love at the same time.

New theatre company, Theatre Ouest End, celebrates their launch (and International Women's Day) with their inaugural event, an evening of readings from a great gathering of Montreal playwrights and performers, on Friday, March 8 at their home space, Westmount Park United Church. Admission is free.

2.2 million Total Viewers said 'I Do' to the Lifetime original feature HARRY & Meghan: A Royal Romance on Sunday night, making it cable's best original movie of the year with Adults 25-54 (872,000), Adults 18-49 (742,000), Women 25-54 (662,000) and Women 18-49 (552,000), according to Nielsen Media Research. HARRY & Meghan: A Royal Romance was also Lifetime's highest delivering telecast since Beaches across all key demos.
