After its first round of adult training classes in late summer/early fall of 2023, WBTT is offering three adult education opportunities in early 2024: Adult Acting, African Dance, and Improv Adventures. 

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) has received funding from the Barancik Foundation to support production staff training, allowing them to expand their operations and outreach programming.

As part of its New Playwrights Series, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will present 'Motherless,' which was nominated for 'Best Production' at the New York Theatre Festival this past summer. Learn more about the production here!

While Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe has long been known for its artist development programs and training, the arts organization will – this fall – expand its programming to members of the community. Beginning later this month and running through dates in November are African Dance and Improv classes.

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will present its first-ever Juneteenth Arts Festival on June 18. Hundreds of community members were in attendance over the course of the day as WBTT hosted numerous businesses, organizations, and food trucks, screened films from local filmmakers and students from Ringling College of Art & Design, and presented spoken word, dance, and live music on an outdoor stage.

On February 10, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe celebrated the grand opening of its newly-renovated theater. In attendance were WBTT leaders and supporters, civic and foundation leaders, and representatives from C. Alan Anderson Architect, PA and Willis Smith Construction.
