As a highlight of the 2024 Bard SummerScapefestival, the Fisher Center at Bard presents the first new American production in almost five decades of Giacomo Meyerbeer’s Le prophète, an all-too-topical grand opera in which religion, politics, and power collide.

The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra has announced details of the 2024-25 season, its 103rd, which will feature the greatly anticipated revival of Giants in the Earth – the Pulitzer Prize winning opera by American composer Douglas Moore (The Ballad of Baby Doe) based on Ole Edvart Rølvaag's epic novel about Norwegian settlers of the Dakota Territory in 1873.  The SDSO's production will be the first ever fully professional staging of Moore's opera.  More details on Giants in the Earth can be found at the bottom of this release.

The Coolidge Corner Theatre (‘the Coolidge’) has revealed the lineup for its Winter / Spring 2024 Dance at the Cinema and Opera at the Cinema series. 

The opera will be presented in Portuguese and will feature black artists, such as soprano Marly Montoni and tenors Jean William and Mar Oliveira among the main characters; with Priscila Bomfim in the musical direction and Julianna Santos in the scenic direction. In celebration of Children's Day, there will be a performance on October 12th, at 5pm.

At concerts on Saturday, May 13 at 8pm and Sunday, May 14 at 4pm, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) takes audience members to Paris and on a tour of Italy through George Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Hector Berlioz’s Harold in Italy, featuring internationally renowned violist Roberto Díaz as soloist.

On April 27-30, Gemma New reunites with the New Jersey Symphony to conduct Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini featuring internationally-renowned pianist George Li, and Sarah Gibson's warp & weft. Known for her dynamic and engaging performances, New served as both the Assistant Conductor from 2009 to 2013 and then as the Associate Conductor from 2013 to 2016 for the Symphony and was recently appointed Artistic Advisor and Principal Conductor of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

California Symphony will close its 2022-23 season with its Fresh Inspirations program, featuring the World Premiere of Stargazer, a piano concerto by the symphony's Young American Composer in Residence Viet Cuong (2020-2023)
