The virtual edition of the renowned International Thespian Festival (ITF), taking place June 22-26, is addressing current diversity and inclusion topics in its comprehensive program of workshops and general sessions. The 60 hours of programming over five days also features performances of the best high school theatre of the year from across the country, plus more than 50 workshops, 25 celebrity guests, and a college fair with 45 schools.

Internationally acclaimed playwright Katori Hall, currently artistic director of the Hattiloo Theatre in Memhis, TN, will remount L.A.'s Matrix Theatre production of her play, The Mountaintop, at Memphis's Orpheum Theatre in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Obie award-winner Roger Guenveur Smith, who directed the Matrix production, will again be at the helm, with Larry Bates and Danielle Mone Truitt reprising their Matrix roles. Award-winning Matrix set designer John Iacovelli will design the set.

After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre has confirmed casting for all six shows in the 65th Music Circus season. The stellar cast for the season is loaded with Broadway veterans, some of whom are making their Music Circus debuts, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus productions.
For the Record: Baz Luhrmann in Concert is the brainchild of Christopher Lloyd Bratten (musical director) and Shane Scheel (producer) who have previously produced concerts incorporating the music from the films of the Coen Brothers and also John Hughes and Quentin Tarantino, among others. The Luhrmann show is on its third extension - now through January - and it is easy to see why. The entire Rockwell Table and Stage is converted into a grande theatrical experience like no other, with playing areas for the 9 singers/actors in the round...complete 360 degree surround, including playing areas at and around the bar. Elevated stages are used, so there is little or no problem seeing the performers except if you are seated directly behind a pillar, offering partial obstruction.
San Diego REPertory Theatre (San Diego REP) in partnership with the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) will present "In the Heights" by Quiara Alegria Hudes as the first production of the company's 38th season. The Tony and Grammy Award-winning production was conceived by and with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the San Diego REP production is directed by Sam Woodhouse and starring Jai Rodriguez.
Co-creators Shane Scheel and Christopher Lloyd Bratten presented "For the Record: Tarantino in Concert" last week at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. The show was adapted from multiple works of Academy Award-winning director Quentin Tarantino including "Reservoir Dogs," "Kill Bill," "Pulp Fiction," and "Inglourious Bastards" among others. Danielle Mone' Truitt will present her One Woman show 3, the first installment of the 'Nappy Hair and Other Black Girl Blues' Series. The show will debut at The Artisan Theatre on June 7, 2012 at 8pm and run until June 10, 2012.
