Cara Francis BIO

Cara Francis is a writer of plays and songs, a performer, video artist and comedian. An ensemble member of The New York Neo-Futurists since 2008, she has written and performed in Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, The Soup Show (HERE Arts Center) and The Complete and Condensed Stage Directions of Eugene O'Neill, Volumes One and Two (Two Time Drama Desk Nominee for Unique Theatrical Experience). Her theater performance work has been seen at PS122, Dixon Place, The Ontological-Hysteric/Incubator Arts, The Flea, The Bushwick Starr, Galapagos Art Space, The Chocolate Factory, The Pit, Ars Nova, The New York Comedy Festival, The Chicago and New York Sketch Comedy Festivals, CATCH and AUNTS. Cara performed in Andrew Ondrejcak's FEAST (Under the Radar, 2014) and the feature film Welcome to Nowhere with Temporary Distortion. She has toured with The Complete and Condensed O'Neill to the Bharat Rang Mahotsav in India and performed in The Return, a motion-capture/sculpture installation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She previously developed a site-specific immersive work, Stand, at the Brooklyn Museum with The Institute for Psychogeographic Adventure. Her interactive drone performance work, Remote, premiered at Trouw in Amsterdam, NE, at the New Museum in New York, NY as part of AUNTSisdance and as part of 'First Person View' at The Knockdown Center in Queens, NY. Cara's work has been written about in The Village Voice, The NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, Vice's MOTHERBOARD, Bedford and Bowery, The Huffington Post, ARTFORUM and American Theater Magazine.
