The board of directors of the Friends of Lied has announced its new members for 2012-2014. The Friends of Lied supports the mission of the Lied Center for Performing Arts-- to educate, inspire and entertain the people of Nebraska through the performing arts. Friends of Lied members live across the State of Nebraska but join together to support Nebraska's Home for the Arts.

The Friends of Lied has been integral to the Lied Center for Perfomring Arts since the Lied opened in 1990. In the last four years, the Friends of Lied has donated more than $1 million to the Lied Center, thanks to more than 1,000 members across the state.

The Lied Center's 23rd season in 2012-13 is supported by Friends of Lied, Ameritas and Union Bank. All events in the Lied Center are made possible entirely or in part by the Lied Performance Fund, which has been established in memory of Ernst F. Lied and his parents, Ernst M. and Ida K. Lied. The Nebraska Arts Council, a state agency, has supported the programs of this organization through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature; the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency; and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
