Knife Edge Productions will present Stephen Belber's FAULT LINES, directed by Shira-Lee Shalit. Previews begin September 4 at TBG Theater. Opening night is slated for Monday, September 8.
In FAULT LINES, Jim and Bill get together to celebrate Bill's thirty-ninth birthday. When they meet Joe, who's slightly older and odder, their boys' night out quickly turns sour. Whole Foods, mini-hot dogs and Edie Brickell abound as together they attempt to delineate loyalty, conviction and betrayal.
"FAULT LINES is about the increasing fragility of friendship as time goes by, " notes playwright
Stephen Belber. "At its core it's about two friends who seek to remain best friends even as they veer in separate directions. Through humor, deceit, the threat of betrayal and in the context of jealousy and love, the characters in this play strive, stumble and stupefy each other as they try to navigate the messy waters of impending middle age."

Stephen Belber's plays have been produced on Broadway and over 25 countries. They include The Muscles in Our Toes, Tape, Match, The Power of Duff, Don't Go Gentle, Dusk Rings a Bell, McReele, A Small, Melodramatic Story and Geometry of Fire. He was an associate writer on The Laramie Project and co-writer on The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later. His television credits include Rescue Me and Law and Order: SVU. His movie credits include Tape (starring
Ethan Hawke,
Uma Thurman and
Robert Sean Leonard) and The Laramie Project.
Shira-Lee Shalit is an award-winning director, selected by
Steven Spielberg as a finalist for the TV show On the Lot. Named by Shoot Magazine as a director to watch, Shira-Lee directs film and theatre and is on faculty at both NYU and Columbia University. She works with the
LAByrinth Theatre Company where she teaches their master class workshops and is an Associate Director with the Barefoot Theatre Company. Shira-Lee has a BFA in Acting from NYU and received her MFA in Directing at Columbia University's Graduate Film Division.
Knife Edge Productions was formed in 2008 by
Neil Holland and a fellow graduate of William Esper Studio to produce a revival of
Adam Rapp's Red Light Winter. After the success of Red Light Winter, fellow William Esper Studio graduate
Don DiPaolo and director
Sam Helfrich joined Knife Edge Productions to stage a critically acclaimed Off-Off Broadway revival of
