Klea Blackhurst Heads Amas' Musical Theatre Song Salon

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff/Artistic Producer) announced the next in its ongoing series "The Amas Musical Theatre Song Salon", with Special Guest KLea Blackhurst. The Salon event will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 6:00pm and the program will begin at 7:30pm, at a private midtown Manhattan location. A limited number of tickets will be available for $100 each, in support of Amas theatre and education programming.

"I'm so pleased to welcome the amazing KLea Blackhurst to our series of special soirees" says Amas Artistic Producer Donna Trinkoff. "I had the great pleasure of working with her recently and she is one of our great treasures. She is a singular performer, a special talent, and a very funny woman. Klea is someone that friends of Amas will adore getting to know", she adds. "This will be a very special evening".

Currently starring on IFC's Onion News Network broadcasts as former prosecutor Shelby Cross, veteran cabaret and television performer Blackhurst is perhaps best known for her live and recorded tributes to Ethel Merman, Everything the Traffic Will Allow which garnered her two MAC Awards. She has also recorded her collaboration with Billy Stritch, Dreaming of a Song: The Music of Hoagy Carmichael, and Autumn in New York: Vernon Duke's Broadway on Ghostlight Records. Other recordings include Jule Styne in Hollywood, Lost in Boston IV, Unsung Irving Berlin and the original cast recordings of Radio Gals and Bingo.

The Amas Musical Theatre Song Salon is a periodic series of informal evenings exploring the American Songbook, including conversations with some of its foremost practitioners and performances by guest artists. Last year's inaugural Salon guest was Gerard Alessandrini, Tony Award-winning creator of Forbidden Broadway. The evenings feature limited attendance in informal and elegant environments, including private homes and apartments. Guests receive the address upon ticket confirmation. Ticket purchases are tax deductible as allowed by law. Future Salon events will be announced on an ongoing basis.

The Amas Musical Theatre Song Salon with guest artist KLea Blackhurst is directed by David Armstrong and music directed by John Bell.
