Classical Theatre of Harlem's Playwright's Playground is back, beginning tonight, January 14th at 7 p.m. And to celebrate, the group will have a drawing to win two tickets to the uptown showing of Detroit '67 at every reading.

Once a month, the group meets at the Shabazz Center to do readings from new works in progress. Playwrights are invited to submit 10-12 pages of a working draft for consideration. Five writers are featured at each Playground. And the group wouldn't be able to showcase these writers without the talented actors in attendance who volunteer to do cold readings of these pages right on the spot.

PLAYGROUND DATES FOR WINTER/SPRING 2013: January 14, February 4, March 11, April 8 and May 6

Gatherings happen on Mondays, 7-10pm at The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center, 3940 Broadway at 165th Street. Take A, C, or 1 train to 168th St. Arrive between 6:30 pm and 6:45 pm.

Playwrights: E-mail your submissions (10-12 pages only) or inquiries to Debra Cardona, Playwright's Playground administrator, at: playwrightsplayground@gmail.com.

Actors: Arrive a half-hour before the start of each Playwright's Playground Monday and check in with administrators Debra Cardona and Pia Wilson in order to be cast in a scene.
