Alan Ball's FIVE ONE ACTS will be presented for the first time together on a New York stage as a special event for New Patrons of The Acting Company - young professionals aged 20 to 40 interested in the theater - on Monday, May 10, 7pm at the Baruch Performing Arts Center. Music by the Maledictions will be featured at a wine reception prior to the reading, interspersed throughout the five plays and at an on-stage party with the cast following the performance.

Alan Ball is an Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, Writers Guild, Directors Guild and Producers Guild Award-winner for the film American Beauty and HBO hit series Six Feet Under. His other television works include True Blood, Cybill and Grace Under Fire. "Ball taps into the dark fantasies of the human condition but in an oddly humorous and almost humane manner. He brings to life what we all face but only admit to and play out in our dreams," notes Ian Belknap who will direct the evening. Belknap is Associate Artistic Director of The Acting Company and served recently as Assistant Director to Doug Hughes on The Acting Company-New York Theatre Workshop co-production of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, selected as #4 in TIME Magazine's top ten choices of plays and musicals for 2009.

The cast includes Acting Company Alums Jenn Miller Cribbs, Kevin Orton and Bob Braswell as well as Jonathan Kaplan, Drew Cortese and Erin Krakow. New Patrons is The Acting Company's association of New York professionals aged 20 to 40 who support and promote bringing classic and new works to under-served communities and

schools in New York and across the country. This is their fourth event and is open to those who wish to enjoy the evening and consider joining in support of The Acting Company.

The evening is open to those over 40 as well who will attend a separate reception following the performance. Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, The Acting Company has been honored with a TONY for Excellence in Theater, playing New York and touring the country for the past 38 seasons. Founding members Kevin Kline and Patti LuPone as well as Rainn Wilson, Jesse L. Martin, Harriet Harris, Frances Conroy, Keith David, David Ogden Stiers and Jeffrey Wright and 300 others all began their careers on tour with The Acting Company.
