YANK!, the acclaimed 2010 Off-Broadway show, centering on two WWII soldiers who happen to fall in love in the midst of deployment, is finally set to receive a cast album.

Creators David and Joseph Zellnik turned to Kickstarter yesterday to help raise $35,000 for the recording, which is also being partially financed by the Grammy-nominated PS Classics.

"...The time has finally come to make the cast album, probably the single most important thing that helps a show live on past its initial run, both in the memories of those who saw it, and as a way to create new fans," the Zellniks wrote on the official Kickstarter page.

Rob Berman, who's been with the show since NYMF 2005, is back as music director. Members of the original cast set to return are Bobby Steggert (Ragtime - Tony Nomination, Big Fish), Ivan Hernandez (Into the Woods), Nancy Anderson (Far From Heaven), Jeffry Denman (White Christmas), Tally Sessions (Big Fish), Andrew Durand (War Horse), David Perlman (Baby It's You!), Chris Ruth (Happy Days - The Musical), Joe Medeiros (The Blue Flower), Zak Edwards (No, No Nanette!), and Todd Faulkner (Nurse Jackie).

YANK! is billed as: "Set during World War II, [the show] chronicles the relationship between two servicemen long before "Don't-ask-don't-tell" was part of the national discussion. With a lively score inspired by the pop sounds of the 1940's, Yank! captures the spirit and exuberance of the era as it explores questions of prejudice, courage and survival.
