Urban Stages will present the New York Premiere of the acclaimed comedies The Book of Moron and The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?, written by and starring Robert Dubac. The Male Intellect, one man's quest to figure out what women want, will run in repertory with The Book Of Moron, a hilarious journey down the rabbit hole of hype and spin in search of the truth. Performances of both shows will run in rep for this limited Off-Broadway engagement that begins March 19th and continues through April 26th. Opening Night is set for Monday, March 30th. Urban Stages is located at 259 West 30th Street (between Seventh and Eighth Avenues). The production staff includes Associate Producer Peter Napolitano and Marketing Director Antoinette Mullins.

"We're fondly referring to Robert Dubac's shows as THE MORON PLAYS knowing full well they are anything but," says Ms. Hill. "The Book of Moron and The Male Intellect are that rare combination of theater and comedy that is laugh out loud funny, provocative and thoughtful, all at once. Robert Dubac belongs to that unique breed of monologists, bringing to mind the best of Lily Tomlin and Mark Twain, who use character portrayal and biting wit to create shows that boggle our minds with rapid-fire humor. In both shows he shifts effortlessly from one character to the next bombarding us with silent giggles, profound conclusions and hysterical evaluations."

Critics from across the country have described Dubac's shows as "Laugh out loud funny! There are two kinds of people who should rush and see it: men and women!" - The Providence Journal; "Comedy that is both provocative and brainy" - The Huffington Post; and "Wickedly funny ... The kind of undisputedly riotous show that sets off regular explosions of laughter!" - The Miami Herald. Dubac's talent has also been hailed by his peers: "These are the funniest shows you'll ever think at." says Garry Shandling;. Dana Carvey declares, "If funny were a religion, Bob is nothing short of a miracle;" Kevin Nealon adds, "Start laughing really hard now or you're going to miss a lot from laughing so hard during the shows."

In The Book Of Moron Dubac crashes head first into our culture of modern idiocracy. (And idiocracy isn't even a word. How dumb is that?) Having been assaulted with so much hype and spin he has lost sight of the truth. He can't remember who he is or what he believes in. Does he have a purpose? Can he think for himself? Is the truth in the details or in the pudding? He hasn't a clue. He racks his brain searching for answers. Instead he finds voices. Inner voices who pull him into a hysterical parallel universe in search of the bigger picture. It's a head trip - on a banana peel.

In The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? Dubac embarks on a different mission. This time he's in pursuit of the holy grail of male/female relationships; i.e. the answer to the age old question, "What do women want?" And with help of five bonehead chauvinists and his feminine side he miraculously comes up with the answer. All while drinking a beer. It's 80 minutes of riotous comedy and misguided advice on the never-ending babble of the sexes.

Robert Dubac has garnered much success in the three-ring circus of showbiz as a writer, actor and comedian. In addition to The Book Of Moron and The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?, he has written Sex, Politics... and Other Headaches, While he sleeps he is writing a fourth show Stand-up Jesus and completing an audio CD called Piss and Moan. A few years ago he directed the Off-Broadway solo show Man 1, Bank 0. Mr. Dubac is a member of the Dramatists Guild but chooses to write humor. He makes his wife laugh but not always right away.
