Andrew Raia's play DIVORCE AND HEMORRHOIDS: my blood pops will receive a private reading on Monday, April 4th at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.

This is Raia's first reading in New York, having had a reading of his first play, Princess Sparkle, in Chicago, sponsored by Sparkle, sparkle.org.uk, one of the UK's most prominent transgender charity organizations, this past January.

DIVORCE AND HEMORRHOIDS: my blood pops chronicles the days leading up to and directly following the most anticipated event of Augustus Bouirelli's twenty-something adult life, college graduation. He's got a measly three tickets for four parents, a twin brother, fake girlfriend and a massive hemorrhoid. The sheer pain from the literal, physical manifestation of his anxiety and the realities of an impending, impenetrable job market might be solved if his orthodontist father, Tony, can remove the pustule himself. But will Tony notice that his son's ass is gay? In this coming of age tale, a family must decide whether blood is thick enough to heal the wounds of false expectation and disappointment.

The piece is directed by Ivey Lowe, stage managed by Becky Abramowitz, and the company includes Chris Albrigo, Sydney Blaxill, Adam Butterfield, Vincent Cooper, Nicholas DiLeonardi, Chelsea Frei, Michael Lorz, Andrew Manning, Alexa Salamé and Patrick Sweeney.

DIVORCE AND HEMORRHOIDS: my blood pops is presented by producers Sydney Blaxill and Zachary Infante of Unabridged Productions. Unabridged Productions most recently presented Bachman, Sokolow, and Brown's staged reading of In Real Life (an unofficial Slenderman musical) at Theatre for a New Audience's Polonsky Shakespeare Center after a reading/workshop at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
