THE AMERICAN THEATRE OF ACTORS' production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, directed by JAMES JENNINGS and featuring MICHAEL MATUCCI and JESSICA JENNINGs, will close on March 14th.

In THE TAMING OF THE SHREW Kate, the witty waspish shrew must be married off before her younger tamer sister. Petruchio who comes in search of a wife, must woo the wildcat Kate. A touching battle-of-the-sexes ensues, in which an unwilling bride has it out with her husband-to-be while he starves her out of her sulks! This slapstick, misogynistic, controversial tale will leave you laughing all the way home!

MICHAEL MATUCCI appearing at Petruchio starred in the feature film LAST CHANCE that is premiering in 2010. He has previously appeared in a number of plays, short films, and television commercials including the USA program WHITE COLLAR. Michael began his career in Italy modeling and appearing in television commercials and now lives in New York and studies acting with Gary Swanson.

JESSICA JENNINGS who plays Kate, received the Jean Dalrymple Award for Best Shakespearean Actress, 2005 for performance as ‘Ophelia' in HAMLET. Her film credits include featured dancer and off-camera dance coach in M. Night Shymalan's THE VILLAGE. Jessica has a BFA in dance from The University of The Arts and has appeared with Nuebert Ballet Co., Cumberland Ballet, JUNK, Mare Nostrum, Coyote Dancers, Elojes Dance Theatre, LeAnne Schmidt & Co.

Featured in the cast are HERBERT BENNETT, WILLIAM GREVILLE, WILLIAM J. GROWNEY, John Paul HARKINS, THOMAS LEVERTON, HAMILTON MEADOWS, GREGORY O'CONNOR, CELESTE SEXTON, ALEX SIMMONS, BRIan White, and EMILY YATES.

Director/Producer JAMES JENNINGS earlier this season directed PERICLES, JULIUS CAESAR, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, CYMBELINE, and HENRY VIII. James has now directed the entire Shakespeare canon - proudly with the exception of COMEDY OF ERRORS. He directed Harvey Keitel in THE FLY KILLER and in THE FUNERAL at the Actor's Studio. He won the T.O.R Award for Best Director for the Off-Broadway play THE HOLY JUNKIE and received the Jean Dalrymple Award for Best Director for the play BLOOD MONEY starring Dan Lauria. He directed Celeste Holm on Broadway, and William Fichtner in GOOD COMPANY. He Studied with Lee Strasber! g, Elia Kazan, Uta Hagen and Benjamin Zemach of the Moscow Art Theatre. His own play MY FATHER'S HOUSE (Off-Broadway) starred Henderson Forsythe. He has three books of poetry including REMEMBRANCE OF YOUTH. His poems have been published internationally and in PRAIRIE POET MAGAZINE. He is the recipient of the John Dos Passos Award.

THE AMERICAN THEATRE OF ACTORS was founded 34 years ago by James Jennings, who continues as its President and Artistic Director. Its purpose is to promote the development of new playwrights, directors and actors and to provide them a creative atmosphere in which to work without the pressures of commercial theatre. The plays are dramas and comedies dealing with the social and ethical problems of contemporary society. More than 900 new works have been presented and 9,000 actors have worked at ATA, including Dennis Quaid, Bruce Willis, Dan Lauria, Chazz Palminteri, Kevin O'Connor, Kevin Spacey, William Fichtner, Kathryn Hahn and Edie Falco.
