Following a bestselling week at the box office, Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) is pleased to announce a two-week extension of Theresa Rebeck's new comedy The Understudy, directed by Scott Ellis.

The New York premiere production of The Understudy will close on January 17th, 2010.

The Understudy, featuring Mark-Paul Gosselaar as "Jake", Justin Kirk as "Harry" and Tony® Award winner Julie White as "Roxanne", opened officially on Thursday, November 5th, 2009 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). The limited engagement has been extended through Sunday, January 17th, 2010.

The design team includes Alexander Dodge (Sets), Tom Broecker (Costumes), Kenneth Posner (Lights), Obadiah Eaves (Original Music & Sound).

The most thankless job in theatre takes center stage in Theresa Rebeck's new look at the underbelly of the acting world. Through the course of a dress rehearsal, we glimpse all the genius, bitterness and ridiculousness that underscore a life in showbiz.
