SING! SING! SING! Presents Tribute To Oscar Hammerstein II 4/30

Record rain and temperatures in New York City have led to the wish-fulfillment tribute to lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, titled "It Might As Well Be Spring," another communal sing-along presentation of SING! SING! SING! on Friday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at The Triad on New York City's Upper West Side.

Co-hosts Anne Phillips and Michael Shepley will provide piano and anecdotal accompaniment, respectively, and the audience takes over.  Lyric sheets are provided to keep everyone happily in sync.

Special guest is Amy Asch, editor of "The Complete Lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein II" (Knopf), a comprehensive compilation of 850 lyrics by the master lyricist, with show descriptions and extensive anecdotal information.

Songs to be sung together will include hits from Hammerstein's legendary collaborations with composer Richard Rodgers - including "Oklahoma!," "Carousel," the film "State Fair," "South Pacific," "The King and I," and "The Sound of Music" - plus others from his work with Jerome Kern, Rudolf Friml and Sigmund Romberg.
