SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE Makes US Premiere Tonight

59E59 Theaters welcomes The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford to Brits Off Broadway with the US premiere of SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE, created by Simon Green and David Shrubsole, performed by Mr. Green, with musical arrangement and accompaniment by Mr. Shrubsole. SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE begins performances tonight, May 20 for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 1. Press opening is Thursday, May 22 at 7:15 PM.

SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE explores paths un-trod, mistakes repeated, and ridiculous responses to an ever-changing world. Simon Green and David Shrubsole cast their gaze over life's rude awakenings. Reteaming after their Drama Desk-nominated Traveling Light, Green and Shrubsole concoct a theatrical marriage of words and music that transports audiences to a former, more innocent incarnation of themselves.

Simon Green (co-creator and performer) is a Drama Desk nominated performer and recently completed filming Mathew Vaughn's new feature film, The Secret Service (Warner Brothers), playing the butler to Samuel L Jackson's Valentine and 24 - Live Another Day (Fox) playing the First Minister. London and West End credits include: The World Goes Round (Union), Bruce Ismay in Titanic (Southwark Playhouse), Jules in Sunday in the Park with George (Menier Chocolate Factory/Wyndham's), Knight of the Burning Pestle (Barbican), Lumiere in Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Dominion), Torasso in Passion (Queen's), Young Ben in Follies (Shaftesbury), Whizzer in March of the Falsettos (Albery), Elegies (Criterion), Coriolanus (Young Vic), Robespierre in The Scarlet Pimpernel (Her Majesty's), Lady Be Good (Regent's Park), Tony in The Boyfriend (Old Vic & Albery) and, for the RSC, Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz and Frank in Showboat (Palladium). He appeared as M.Lefevre in The Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary and Sondheim at 80 - BBC Proms (both at the Royal Albert Hall). He recently played M. Andre in the national tour of Cameron Macintosh's new production of The Phantom of the Opera. Simon's cabarets, with musical director and arranger, David Shrubsole, are familiar in London's major cabaret venues and have played New York at Feinstein's, The Metropolitan Room, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall and the 59E59 Theaters with Coward at Christmas and Simon Green - Traveling Light (2010 Drama Desk Award nomination - Outstanding Musical Revue). They have recorded two CDs: Take Me to the World and A Changing World- the Words and Music of Noel Coward.

David Shrubsole (co-creator, musical arrangement and accompaniment) is currently musical director for the film adaptation of London Road and is preparing to orchestrate and musically direct a new production of Porgy and Bess for London's Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park. Most recently he was music supervisor and vocal arranger for Duncan Sheik's premiere of American Psycho at the Almeida Theatre.
