The Irish Repertory Theatre continues its 23rd Season on December 8 with Dylan Thomas's holiday classic A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES

Adapted and Directed by Charlotte Moore.

A thousand starry lights will envelop the stage in The Irish Repertory Theatre's re-invention of Dylan Thomas's A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES- set to begin previews December 8 on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage Theatre, prior to its official press opening December 12 at The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). Charlotte Moore, who recently helmed ERNEST IN LOVE and WHITE WOMAN STREET at Irish Rep and a concert version of BRIGADOON on Broadway, directs.

The iconic piece, starring both Irish Repertory favorites and Broadway veterans, features both traditional and contemporary Christmas music interwoven within the classic story of the famous snowy Christmas Day in Wales. Kerry Conte and Ashley Robinson star along with Broadway
favorites: Victoria Mallory, Martin Vidnovic, and Simon Jones. Musical Direction is by John Bell.

A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES features costume design by David Toser and lighting design by Mary Jo Dondlinger. Production Stage Manager is April A. Kline; Assistant Stage Manager is Naomi Anhorn.

Welsh author Dylan Thomas was born in Swansea, a seacoast town in southern Wales, on October 27, 1914. After dropping out of school at sixteen, he worked as a junior reporter at the South Wales Evening Post. In addition to poetry, Thomas wrote short stories, radio plays, and film scripts. He is best known for the radio play UNDER MILK WOOD and the poem "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night," composed in 1951, in honor of his dying father. Throughout his career, Thomas
conducted a renowned series of reading tours of the United States. During his fourth American lecture tour, and a few days after his thirty-ninth birthday, he collapsed in his New York hotel. Thomas died on November 9, 1953, at St. Vincent's Hospital. His body was returned to Wales, where a simple wooden cross marks his grave.

Charlotte Moore's most recent directing assignments were THE IRISH... AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY, WHITE WOMAN STREET, ERNEST IN LOVE, THE YEATS PROJECT, ARISTOCRATS, TAKE ME ALONG, GASLIGHT, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, MRS. WARREN'S PROFESSION, and MR. DOOLEY'S AMERICA. In addition, she directed BRIGADOON IN CONCERT at Broadway's Shubert Theatre. Other directing credits include: FINIAN'S RAINBOW at Joanne Woodward's Westport Country Playhouse, SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER, Samuel Beckett's ENDGAME, the adaptation and direction of FINIAN'S RAINBOW, Dion Boucicault's THE COLLEEN BAWN, J. Harley Manners' PEG O' MY HEART, J.M. Synge's PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD, and Dion Boucicault's THE STREETS OF NEW YORK, which she adapted and scored. New York stage appearances include MAJOR BARBARA, A PERFECT GANESH,
MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, THE PERFECT PARTY, MORNING'S AT SEVEN, PRIVATE LIVES, LOVE FOR LOVE, HOLIDAY, CHEMIN DE FER, THE GREAT GOD BROWN, A LOVELY SUNDAY FOR CREVE COEUR, and many performances with the New York Shakespeare Festival, with directors who include Harold Prince, Tony Walton, John Tillinger, Vivian Matalon, Paul Weidner, Brian MurrayMichael Montel, Edward Berkeley, Arvin Brown, Louis Burke, Steven Porter, and Ellis Rabb. Ms. Moore has directed forty-eight Irish Repertory Theatre productions and all twenty Gala Benefits. She has received two Tony Award nominations, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award, The Irish America Top 100 Irish Award, and the 2008 Irish Women Of The Year Award. She is the recipient of the 2008 Ambassador Award, the St. Patrick's Committee in Holyoke's John F. Kennedy National Award, and has twice been listed as one of the "50 Most Influential Women" in the Irish America Magazine/Irish Voice Newspaper.

Co-founded by Producing Director Ciarán O'Reilly and Artistic Director Charlotte Moore, The Irish Repertory Theatre opened its doors in September 1988 with Sean O'Casey's THE PLOUGH AND THE STARS. The mission of the theatre was and remains to bring works by Irish and Irish American masters and contemporary playwrights to American audiences; to provide a context for understanding the contemporary Irish American experience; and to encourage the development of new works focusing on the Irish and Irish American experience, as well as a range of other cultures.

The Irish Repertory Theatre opened its 23rd season with the world-premiere of Kelly Younger's BANISHED CHILDREN OF EVE, adapted from the novel by Peter Quinn, with performances through December 5 on the company's Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage Theatre. The production is directed by Ciarán O'Reilly, who recently received the 2009-10 Joe A. Callaway Award for his direction of last season's revival of THE EMPEROR JONES.

Continuing through November 28 in the W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre
is a revival of ST. NICHOLAS, starring John Martello and directed by
Alex Dmitriev.

A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES runs December 8-January 2 (opening December 12), at The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues): Wednesday-Saturday at 8pm; plus 3pm matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (with the following
exceptions: added 8pm performances on Tuesday, December 21 and 28; 3pm matinee on Friday, December 24; no 8pm performance on Christmas Eve; no performance Saturday, December 25; and no 3pm matinee on Saturday, January 1). Tickets are $55 and $65, and are available by calling
