Ivan Hernandez will assume the role of "El Gallo" in the new production of The Fantasticks Monday, September 17. Hernandez replaces original cast member Burke Moses.  Moses will be taking a short leave of absence from The Fantasticks to play Sky Masterson in the American Musical Theatre (AMT) of San Jose's production of Guys and Dolls.

Hernandez's previous credits include John Patrick Shanley's and Henry Krieger's Romantic Poetry (NY Stage and Film), Zhivago (La Jolla Playhouse), The Most Happy Fella (NY City Opera), Zorro (NYC workshop), Two Gents (Baltimore Centrestage), The Mambo Kings (Golden Gate) and Senor Discretion Himself (Arena Stage).

The Fantasticks opened on Wednesday, August 23, at New York's Snapple Theater Center (210 West 50th Street at Broadway).  The beloved, musical love story features music by Harvey Schmidt and book and lyrics by Tom JonesMr. Jones also directs.

The cast also includes Thomas Bruce ("Henry"), Julie Craig ("Luisa"), John Deyle ("Hucklebee"), Jordan Nichols ("The Mute"), Robert R. Oliver ("Mortimer"), Nick Spangler ("Matt") and Martin Vidnovic ("Bellomy").   The cast also includes Stuart Marland, Richard Roland and Liz Holtan.
